Sam Taylor listed on the AFL website with a draft range of 25-50...surely not. This kid is going to be a ripper. If he's available for our second round picks, we should snap him up.

He's a 196cm, 87kg key defender who is phenomenal above his head. When he fills out, he's going to be terrific.

I like him, if we had one less KPD then I think we would jump at him. We probably are looking to take a KPD in next years draft after getting one more season out of Emac, and two more out of Schofield.

Taylor will take a few seasons to fill out. Seems more logical to take him now so he's ready when those two are done.

13: Clark/Higgins/O'Brien
21: O/Brien/Constable/Fogarty
26: Kelly
32: Taylor
37: Miller
69: Sambono/Hayden
83: Jones

This would be a good result. Taylor will be taken anywhere from the second to the third round. The problem is, would we be better served taking a Worpel/Starcevich instead of him?

Good list - however I would only take 1 of Taylor/Miller @ 37. Would much rather Worpel/Starcevich at 32

A guy from work who used to coach Stephenson and Hayes, told me Stephenson mum reckons he's definitely going to slide even though he's been officially cleared by a specialist. She was nervous he'd end up interstate! Good news he will slide, bad news is he's a flight risk if so.

No idea who we will take, but it appears this draft is a lot stronger in the 20 + range than anyone other than West Coast seems to have picked. Think we will do very nicely with a good mix of quality players.

Why do people keep running with this notion that Rawlings is starting to call the shots and that's why it's all going to be fine?
Not sure if you noticed the changes since Rawlings was appointed late last year.

1. The Vardy pick up was something very different. Along with Petrie, they identified a need to cover the rucks but only short term and the need for a player needing a change to get a new start. That is something not seen under Vozzo before and I personally thought a great move.
2. The massive clean out of the list this year. Have not seen that aggressive approach before. Very different and I am lead to believe harder list discussion this year than in prior years.
3. The cheeky and bold trade for picks with Gold Coast. Apart from the 1 trade down with the Sheed year which was mild in comparison, we have been inactive prior. At last someone who can read the draft and act on instinct.
4. Rawlings was not over the list issues this time last year and let O'Brien have the last say on Venables v SPP because the team was split. Apparently his words were - these need to be list management and not recruiter decisions.
5. I have a mate who is a well connected East Perth/Eagles and close friend of Nesbitt (yes, they can be seen at Steves and Claremont Yacht Club having a drink). He heard it from Trev that Rawlings has really taken to the role and made it his own.

So yes, some insider info and observations that we are doing it differently this year. Rawlings has had experience in this space before and it may be just me but I am seeing things being done differently and with a load more accountability into List Management. So far I like what I am seeing. Maybe others would prefer the older style of list management or maybe I am dreaming that it is different.

I feel like we were deciding between Higgins and Allen at 13 and we've settled on Allen.

This is why Twomey is saying Higgins is gone by our pick 21. We're not likely to pass on our second preference for #13 at pick 21.

If we pick Allen ahead of Higgins or Stephenson our club receuiting department has turned into a introverted inbred mob of conservative vanilla licking whimps.

That is all!:cool::devil:

Not sure why posters are worried. Twomey has said that this is the hardest draft to predict and he had NFI. He proved this tonight and clubs have shut up shop this year. Basically he is stabbing in the dark.

Friday will see Rawlings over-ruling O’Brien and we will start to address needs. We have said we will take some mature WAFL so no drama if we take Kelly with an early second and there will be another likely mature pick later. We have also said our priority is midfield. Relax. We normally say SFA to the media.

Ask yourself why Sumich is pumping up the tyres of Starcevich. Because West Coast and Freo do not need a HFF at their early picks and he is probably related to him. Remember - Starcevich is not a midfielder and is yet to dominate a game. The calls for Starcevich early seem to have come from posters yet to see him play live. Having gone to the games, it was easy to see he had skills but he simply is not a midfielder and does not know how to do it for a full game.

Now if for some strange reason Twomey is right, we need to get a posse together and bury O’Brien, Rawlings and Vozxo in the earthworks at Lathlain.

I know some Bulgarians mate. 10k a drop, including flights. 3 points of separation on all contacts. Easy.

Also just want to put it out there, i don't think we use the word campaigner enough on this board.

Righto, I'm going to have a crack at this.

13: Allen/Higgins/Stephenson
21: Constable/O'Brien/L Fogarty
26: Kelly
32: Miller (if Higgins or Stephenson are taken at 13) / Worpel (if Allen is taken at 13)
37: Starcevich
69: Ryan
