Looks like you don't even know what you said:

So you wanted to pay 1.5m+ PLUS performance based incentives (afaik something the club hasn't done since it nearly destroyed our cap post 2010).

AND

Two first rounders AND a second.

So yes. It's still ridiculous overpaying that would defeat the purpose of everything we've done so far.
Lmao how is it ridiculous overpaying? 1m for a player without the runs on the board Boyd is ridiculous overpaying. 2 first rounders is pretty much market value for the best player in the league, and this ones only 22 years old.

It might be slightly overs in each category but a) you need to offer him enough to make him want to come to your club, and b) you need to compensate GWS adequately.

If you're getting a once in a generation player like Kelly, you stfu and pay whatever it takes and be happy you landed him. No other questions asked.

Dissapointed about Fyfe. Would love him. Kelly? Who knows if we will.

Best part is oppo supporters coming on here. Insecure twats.

Like they don't crap on about players they'd love to get.

As if there presence on here will swing the result their way.

Lol.

Said it before will say it again if your jelly you want a short term deal not a long term one

His value will be astronomical in 5-6 time when he's a free agent

The free agency rule changes help us in that regard
Nah what are you talking about he definitely wants a 9 year deal to take him past his prime on sub market price in a group of washed up has beens and untried 4th rounders :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

The Norf supporters think they have some kind of god given right to Kelly. The melts will be gargantuan if he chooses St Kilda.
And there's the key distinction between the two fans. You go on the North board and they will say when. Saints don't expect to get him, but are extremely hopeful of it. North do expect to get him, which is why when for a month it was considered a forgone conclusion that he was going to North, they are currently so upset about other parties gunning for him.

Sold a place today for $2.3m
Reckon it was worth $1.9

Buyer reckons he got a good deal because he wants to build his dream home near the beach.

Value is in the eye of the beholder and how the acquisition will help them achieve their objectives.

I am agreeing with you BTW ;)

The only way the 9 years made even the remote amount of sense is under the current FA rules which are about to change. In that he wouldn't qualify for FA in his prime at his new club

Now that that's being changed there's literally no incentive for doing a long term deal

Bring forward the expiry date but keep the money the same. ****ing squeeze north out of the picture

30 pages including Kelly and all other possible recruits appears to be somewhat conservative

So much this.

9 year deal will be like jumping over $100 notes to pick up dollar coins.

Even if your value declines, you make more up front.

Unless you're 26 or 27 no need for a 9 year deal.

They talk about him and his North "pedigree" as if the Kelly's are the North equivalent of the Ebert's at Port Adelaide, the Danihers at Essendon, or the Shaw's/Coventry's at Collingwood! :D

Most of them had probably never heard of Phil Kelly until Josh was drafted or about to be and he played his last of his 61 games for them all the way back in 1985, 10 years before Josh was even born!

Dean Rice on the other hand played in a premiership for Carlton and his son Bailey got to see him play football for them for a few years and barracked for them himself. Then a few years later he had the opportunity to be drafted to that team that he still barracked for and had his whole life and who he saw his father play for and yet he chose to play for another team.

But they reckon Josh is only going to go to North, who he hasn't barracked for for 4 years now, because his father played a few games for them years before he was born. :drunk: :drunk:

He either chooses St Kilda or stays...and I highly think it will be the latter. Cant have too many big fish leaving but not choosing us. Bad look when weve said all along we are chasing them from now on

Our performance for the rest of the season might have more hingeing on it than just premiership points

You Norf boys are a fragile lot.

Its the most exciting thing ever to happen with their boring , insignificant crap club .
I encourage this special group of people to rejoice any news of any importance surrounding their crap club bcos the big PRICK is coming to pop their hopes and dreams .

Spot on mate. He'd basically be forgoing his free agency rights which will see his next contract inflate just due to how the market is with FAS. I mean look at Mayne.

Then he forgoes the next CBA increase which almost always sees a big jump in salary in the first year of the new deal.

The new CBA next year sees pay jump up 15%

So kelly would be forgoing massive coin just for the sake of security which really isn't there anyway with how injuries etc work

Best deal for him has to be a 5-6 year deal IMO where he gets absolutely showered with money

It's like locking in a fixed rate knowing that interest rates are going to fall.

The irony is that he could end up seeing inferior players earning the same if not more than him after 6 years. Ouch.
