I'm keen to see what sort of numbers we attract crowd wise tonight too. Not a sell out (cat6 and 7 tickets left on Ticketek, along with Telstra tickets). Melbourne don't have nearly as many members as Richmond so somewhat expected, and perhaps it starts to get expensive for families too so those that wanted to go did so last week to see the drought broken. They also might be purchasing MCC with neutral supporters perhaps not as interested in attending the game too.

Don’t forget ski season this year is amazing. Can’t spend every weekend in Melbourne. That will reduce their numbers.

Bloody beautiful mate! A bit of wind doing the rounds so will be interesting to see whether it's the usual 'swirly' wind at the G or an across the ground/favouring one end breeze. The sun is warm and not a cloud in the sky though (near Waverley Park).
It's still sunny and warm here just a hop, skip and a jump from the 'G. The wind is still gusty but there are a few whispy clouds arriving from the west.

Now, to decide on the guernsey fashion for the evening ... 2008 Home? Three-peat? Maybloom? I know I can't wear the Jordy Lewis signed edition! :D

Well, whatever happens tonight, the boys have done us proud this year. When you consider the quality of players lost to our list in the last few seasons, it has been a pleasant surprise to have climbed back into the eight, blooding some decent prospects along the way and, in spite of the obvious gaps in our list, sticking to Clarko's adage of one soldier replacing another. Now we know the light at the end of the tunnel is not merely the 5:02 Upfield.

So, off to the 'G we go! With hope, a ticket and the footy Record clutched in our hot little hands and with a determination to help raise the roof for the boys. We can't allow our Hawks to fly into that long night without a sound, especially against those fair weather, Go Dees, 'vote yes to merge' snow bunnies.

If you'll excuse me, I think I'll burn off a few nerves with a good, long yell ...

CARN THE HAWKERS!!!!!!

Jay Clark is the worst. I have no doubt that this has come from BigFooty rather than an actual source.
Unfortunately I heard that Hardwick was going to be a late out through a source at work whom apparently has an inside word. Sorry didn’t post earlier but was in a mad rush to get out the door at work. Walking up to queue at the mcc now. Massive line!

We will go ok tonight , it’s set up nicely for an overconfident opposition getting rolled by a well drilled and skilled underdog ......anyway that’s how I dreamt it’s going to play out !

Melways maps 44+45 vs 58+59

This time it's personal

Those were the days! The old Melways in the back seat of the car, first few pages ripped out and faded from the sun, corners on the pages all bent up, a few coffee stains from a random pothole you weren’t expecting. The mum gets the old version where new suburbs aren’t included while dad get the newer version!

Superb reference. I’ve got nothing to add, just wanted to quote for the Melways talk.

Piss off Melbourne with your CBD grid at the front of the book.

When Duryea was withdrawn last week from Box Hill i was expecting him to come in for Hardwick.

The changes they made yesterday don't make a lot of sense to me with O'Meara being out.

I did think we're a mid down, but I can see it being covered with Burgers/Impey playing more mid time and Mirra/Duryea covering that.

Regardless of the result tonight it's been a very enjoyable year, lets hope we can muster one big effort to keep the season alive.

Don't want to go out in straight sets and it would also be our 4th finals loss in a row.

Expecting a huge lift from Gunston, Breust, Poppy and Burgoyne and Worpel, Nash and Morrison should be better for the finals run last week.

Need a huge contribution from Dureya and Schoey who should be fresh as daisy's and possibly playing there last games for the club as I believe they are both Free agents at season end.

Go Hawks!!

Took me years to realise the Mel in Melways was short for Melbourne. :p
