The club needs a full independent review, everything from coaching, medical, player development, administration. This has should have been done years ago. As supporters we deserve answers, but all we get is crickets. As much as we dislike Eddie, he did not hesitate in having one done on the lies last year when they were at a low point. For example I don’t understand why we don’t have a senior director of coaching to support bolts. Most of the successful clubs have one. Is the club all about cost savings? If so we will fail to exist soon. As a professional sporting organization we seem to be very amateurish.

The longer Cripps goes unsigned the more nervous I get. Am hearing some small murmurs. Freo has a war chest willing and ready to throw at him. I guess there comes a point where you couldn’t blame the guy for saying enoughs a enough, particularly for someone who will have a shorter career playing in this side. Can’t imagine what it would mean for us if he left. Has anyone got any news on where his contract is at?
Surely we have the biggest war chest. I find it staggering that we could be paying out virtually the same salary cap as any other club, let alone the top ones.

If Cripps leaves it'll be when he arrives at FA not before imo .

I see the pessimists are still out in force this morning, consistent at least

Yeah - we should be extremely optimistic watching the absolute rubbish this club has displayed since the second half of the first game of the season.

It was half a step forward last season, 80 steps back this season. No amount of spinning can change this reality.

I’ve kept off the board as I’ve had nothing positive to say for most of the season, but pretending everything is ok is just delusional.

Was that one reason we got Lobbe in, to help meet the minimum TPP? We must have stacks to work with.

Nothing to be optimistic about from last night.
I saw some despite how terrible it was. Fisher, Paddy, O'Brien and Harry all make me project forward just how good they will be after another 30 to 40 games together. They are not the only ones but for the night the main glimpses into the future beyond the present darkness. This is a period scoreboard is shit in the present but character building realities being experienced.

LOL so Bolton is faultless, blameless in your eyes?

You know C7 showed the list of regulars missing from both sides last night, St Kilda had a lot more quality out. Have not heard them blame their year on injuries once this year.
never said he was faultless/blameless...lack of a solid plan B for kruez going down was an obvious coaching related issue and the stoppage issue which arose as the game progressed was probably related to that as well...

Saints probably have better depth...we have somehow ended up with too many vfl type players (at best) for whatever reason...im not sure bolton should be blamed for that...

If that's an excuse then we clearly have the wrong coach.
who were the alternatives? Bolton is a decent man and is teaching our young players good ethics and unity....

Not replacing Neil Craig with a suitably qualified person was an error imo but again who was/is out there?

Harry made Bolton and the MC look like the bunch of fools they are.

Kreuzer elevated heart rate? Jeez we must be getting desperate resorting to caffeine or whatever we are pumping them full of.

Coach has to go, simple as that.
Or one could say Harry looked magnificent because the coach made sure he was fit and ready to play senior footy .

Agree. Poor decisions like this and the there are so many more off field poor decisions to go with it. Biggest reason on why we are where we are

He may not be a fan of us and it may not be suitable to his current lifestyle, but Paul Roos is a good mentor in the same way Bolton tries to develop the players as human beings. He also has a good track record of building clubs.

I agree with two of those, Plowman is better than you think
He's average IMO. Doubt he'd get a game at many strong clubs.

All is good though, Weitering will come back and fix up the back half. Good, solid contributor who adds desperation and effort.

As a Fitzroy supporter who turned to Richmond in 1997 after my club was booted out, Then supporting a team that was junk until the last 18 months.. so i consider myself one of the most longest suffering fans ever... Fitzroy to Richmond , I know exactly how crap it feels and i know it wont be too long before we are back down again but i truly think these days just firing the coach is not the answer.. It just takes time for that certain group to finally click and it all comes together.. I hope you blokes dont trade away your #1 pick and get another young gun on board as Richmond have proven.. you dont need a team full of superstars, Just 2-3 stars and the rest all doing their roles and it can come together.. Tigers stuck fat with Hardwick and it paid off despite people always saying to sack him.. Bolton seems like a pretty smart bloke and i would imagine he certainly has Clarkson offering advice etc.. You blokes legit have 4-5 elite players once all fit and firing!

Yeh that 2-year extension for Polson was bizarre. Not a great VFL player and looks beyond lost at AFL level.

Doesn’t have a great football brain, low accumulator, not quick, fumbly... also very undersized at the moment. Not enough X-factor to play forward, but doesn’t win enough ball to develop into a midfielder.

Not for me

I’m broken. Wasn’t at the game but watched on Tv at a function and this is what I saw:

- the worst skills of a Carlton side I have seen - up there with the worst of the pagan days if not worse
- no structure and if there was one in place it wasn’t working
- a so called response from last week that lasted all of one quarter in effort and then turned to shit
- hacks of the grandest proportion in Carlton jumpers I have seen and I will name them as follows:
- Sam Rowe
- Liam Jones
- Ed Curnow - yes he tries but he’s not up to it let’s be honest
- Jed Lamb - please just **** off son and stop trying to start fights like the sniper that you are
- Daisy (disgraceful tonight )
- Garlett ( piss weak efforts in a few chases)
- Jack Silvagni ( not AFL standard we love the silvagnis but let’s be honest if he wasn’t Stevens son he wouldn’t be there)
- Matt Shaw - now I know why it’s taken this long to get in the ones
I could go on

Pretty much our back six tonight would be have to be one of the worst back sixes to step foot on an AFL ground.

I’m not sure what else to say at the moment, not sure if we played a full zone tonight as I wasn’t at the game but on TV the effort, the breakdown in play, the skill level, the weakness of the tackle was of a standard that is unacceptable at AFL level. As a member of 20 years of this club this current plight Is Hard to take. Is the torched earth strategy that we have employed the right one? Are we killing these talented kids we brought into the club? What is going with player management in terms of strength, health and fitness? Two weeks in a row players have had elevated heart rates and come off for ****s sake!!

The questions at this point in time are endless and the club has no answers other than stay the course. Bolton’s presser was a disgrace!

If this course continues next year we will not have much of a football club left that’s how diabolical the situation is right now.

Pick one must be traded for established AFL quality players that can help our kids otherwise we are rooted! I can’t stress this enough, injuries or no injuries i can categorically say that a 1 win season in the proud and storied history of this club was not the intention of this strategy.

Bolton has 7 or 8 games next year to show improvement or he is out.
This level of play, effort, skill level is unacceptable at AFL level and we 50,000 plus members deserve better than this! There’s no excuses for this at a professional level

blueblooded, a most accurate summary of our situation.
The only thing you didn't do was add the other 6 or 7 players who are no where near AFL standard.

Fred Cook and Frosty Miller would have kicked twelve each last night in their day. The good VFA clubs of the past would have done exactly what St Kilda did to us last night.

Our list is still in a critical condition and the list everyone keeps putting up as injured...well most of them are unproven or not up to it.
Bravo for your statement about Silvani.....a fact is a fact! He tries but he is treacle slow and relatively lost.

I won't accept the theory that they would all play a level or two higher with more mature support. Yes their would be somewhat of a false dawn as we may win a few more games, but, the basic inferior ingredients would still be the same for the future.

Don't forget that in the next couple of years we also need to replace a few players who can actually play a bit, or could play a bit in the past, most prominently a ruckman. Up to this point we have struggled to attract talent to improve our list let alone replace lost or retired talent.

This is a very complex situation we find ourselves in. Pick number 1 and a couple of twenty somethings ain't going to fix jack shit!

On the bright side we have two of the leagues brightest stars and a handful of potential very good AFL players.
I pray that Cripps puts pen to paper and commits long term to the club and soon because if he doesn't ?????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree with the sentiment but not the pick opinion. Sort of the wrong thread for it, but trading picks - regardless of where they are - is something we simply need to do this year. We have the young talent but not the mature talent.

Oh give it a rest, you whinge about this every damn week.

Nothing to be optimistic about from last night.
Need to look past the result as given the circumstances its a foregone conclusion .
If you cant see the shining lights amongst our performance and side then i guess your not looking .
Mckay i cant wait till he puts on 5kg and gets 30-40 more games in him . Fisher cutting a swathe through traffic . SPS last half although he still needs to do more was great . Curnow of course Cripps , Obrien is getting there .
So impressed with Dow he needs to improve his disposal but for a player that age has terrific core strength he's already standing up and shaking off tackles .
The backline well we dont have one atm but Marchbank will get 40% better on last night class player just not anywhere near fit .
No matter what anyone says Williamsons kicking is crucial for us next year a fit Willo will make a difference .
Add 2 midfielders and a fit list next year the doom and gloom will be replaced with the same positivity that was amongst us all this time last year .
Injuries have destroyed us ...
