You seem to think that winning the draft /trades means that eventually you will win a premiership... Maybe you need to check for any teal in your wardrobe?

No teal here mate and I give you 2017 again as an example. Simple really. 1 poor half of football cost us the flag. Nothing more and nothing less. I couldn't care a fig about winning trades or drafts. Make sound decisions and keep churning the list until players want to join us. It's what Hawthorn do, successfully.

Sam Lloyd for pick 64, we should get Stengle for pick 100 if that's the case
Maybe they'll agree to delist him ?? We are leaving it late for something that should have been so simple

And this is why I'm not all that desperate to trade up the draft. We already have 8, 13, 16, 21. Looking at our history in recent years, I'd back our recruiters to nail all 4 of those picks, local players or not.
If we were to take another 4 top 21 in a super draft i'd make my peace with it exceptionally quickly based on what we've done in recent years. Would still love Rankine on our list and would gladly package up for him. But if that's not on the cards then i'll get over it

You'd think our pick 73 should be enough to get it done based on that. I wonder Richmond and/or we are just holding off to see what kind of steak knives might be required for other trades, then put this one through in the last hour or so once both sides have pretty much settled their other deals.

Lots of talent. Needed here as walker and jenkins aren't going on forever.

Natural Jenkins replacement too, as said, I wouldn't be giving him up unless we got a seriously good deal for him.

Which most likely won't happen as he hasn't showed enough at an AFL level.

I'd love a BMW, but I'm not going to sell my house to buy one :D

Yep, Fogarty / Himmelberg will be playing the Walker / Jenkins roles in 2 or 3 years.

However
Richmond were keen to keep Stengle and offered him a new contract

Fogarty is too early to say if he will end up being a Walker replacement. It feels right in terms of fit, but I'd be surprised if we didn't push midfield first just to see if it sticks whilst we're trying to get his tank up to speed.

I know that's been thrown around on here and in the press but I'm unaware of anything official from Richmond FC stating that they've offered him a contract? Seems strange they have renewed Shai Bolton's contract who is in direct competition with Stengle for a best 22 spot. If in fact they have offered him a contract I'm tipping it's on base pay and no guarantee of games.

True, they did offer him a contract. Do we know if it was a particularly good one? I'm guessing that with the list they've got, plus Tom Lynch coming in, they're probably not offering a huge amount to Stengle, and probably aren't that fussed to lose him. He wants out, has found a club, and aren't going to be too fussed if they lose him for slight unders. And if Sam Lloyd was pick 64 then 73 isn't really unders for Tyson Stengle. This isn't Dustin Martin we're trying to get.

I have a feeling this draft will be end up being the best of the bunch for us, and hopefully will highlight just how strongly we've drafted in the Pyke Era.

2015: Milera, Doedee
2016: Gooch, Poholke, Himmelberg, Davis
2017: FOG, McPherson
2018: As many as 4 top 21 players

That's potentially 12 blokes aged 21 or younger that will likely be pushing for selection as early as next year. Some might be our brightest stars in that time. People talk about 'rebuilding' like its a filthy word, but depending on how we handle this next month we could have done the majority of it without anyone really noticing!
At least 25% of top 20 draft picks are duds

With our drafting record we should clean up

I'll be surprised if we do, he's a big bodied contested marking forward for mine and every indication is that's where the club see him long term.

Don't think we're offering too much either, just an extra year and potentially a 50-60k payrise.

Why would Rankine want to go to Port Adelaide anyway? He doesn't even want to be drafted by them.

Two years is a lot of time, and supporting/hating a club because you go for a rival is certainly fickle.

Once we get to that stage it's all about how much both clubs are offering him, and what opportunities they can offer. Maybe afterwards if those two are similar then it may play a role, but equally, it's more likely Rankine training with us for a year or two will make a big difference here. All clubs have burnt bridges by treating a potential draftee poorly/or made selling the club a lot easier by treating them very well.

interesting when reid was asked today about ugrading to pick 4 with pick 8 and 13, reid quickly advised manure we also have pick 16 and 21. sounds like he's not keen to let go of the pick 13 thankfully
At this rate, he won't be trading any of them

Get a move on Reidy!!!!

I'm not particularly sure if that's our inclination. He got the third tall role because that was the only spot we could blood him this year, and we've been pretty transparent with how highly we rate him. Why I wouldn't be surprised if he got the role this year despite it being a poorer option then going for a small.

I do think it's a much higher chance that he does end up a KPF long term, but I just wouldn't be surprised if we view midfield as a potential option, and worth time in assessing if he could. It'd be a damn valuable ace to have a gun KPF (or vice versa, though mid to forward is a much more traversed path) who could rotate into the midfield if he's struggling/if we're struggling. Especially seeing Fog has a lot to his game that could translate.
