Yeah, I've read that in the press too but all I've heard from Richmond's list manager is that they'd had discussions with Justin Reid re sending him to Adelaide. His trade value is a very late draft pick only and the only way I could see us giving up anything better would be if we weren't going to use the pick at all.

I reckon Port are trying to get GC to pass so they can draft one because once they’re gone, they will never change me back and go to Port.

Their only chance to secure Rankine is to draft him.

Port could be playing with us here - trying to make us think they are happy for these guys go to GC so that we don't trade up, meanwhile they are negotiating with GC to get 2 or 3 so they can pick Rankine.
The last thing port want is to have these guys to to GC, because as soon as they do, the only place they 'come home' to is u

I think trade week is like a cyclone, heavy and lots of movement at the start, a bit of noise and little movement in the middle and then crap flying everywhere at the end and you don't know why you fan is bent.

Not so sure about that. It depends if we are happy to take 4 kids at the draft. If we are then we are probably done. If an opportunity for a top 5 pick at good value comes along we have all the way up to live trading on the night.

And this is why I'm not all that desperate to trade up the draft. We already have 8, 13, 16, 21. Looking at our history in recent years, I'd back our recruiters to nail all 4 of those picks, local players or not.

I think personally the picks we have is not the issue.

If Hamish rates Luko and or Rankine as the best, thats when we have to sell the "farm" to get them, that being picks not players unless potatoes.

If we settle on our picks, then Hamish thinks he get bring in guns with those numbers regardless of being a SA boy or not.

Thats the deal which screwed us over. The GCS got bashed about for that deal.

Similarly the Dockers are gun shy about going after Hogan given the massive overs they have paid for players to come to Perth that have been potatoes.
