If we do that, we take the risk the price increases. On draft pick, pick 4 becomes a premium pick and holds far less needs to the Saints. Meaning it will cost us more to get them to trade it.

No way I see pick 4 costing the same tomorrow as it would draft night.

Price goes down on draft night. There are always more players available than you expect at your pick, and if your player isn't there the demand drops

First of all, St Kilda trading pick 4 for 8 and 13, very unlikely. Expecting anything else is silly. Adelaide would have to add something to 8 and 13 for it to even be a chance. Lethlean has already shut it down.

This happens later on when some smokeys have been taken and players have slid down, but the top 5 will only go up.

On draft night pick 4 will cost us 8, 13 + more, due to Port having 6 & 10.

IMO we need to secure pick 5 before the draft. 8 is too low to compete for an upgrade, when the counter bid is pick 6. If we get 5 we likely don’t need to upgrade. If we don’t get it, IMO we won’t upgrade.

MacClure asked him what he thought of Cripps (Port’s list manager) saying it was Hawthorn who put Burton’s name up for trade, and he said he preferred not to talk about such things and he was disappointed Cripps would go there, and with discussions that happen this time of year and their sensitivities, some things are best not discussed in public.

I hope your wrong. People have got carried away with the quality of this draft because of the quality at the pointy end. The top 7 are miles better than the rest, and for us it's top 5 because we don't want the King brothers.

It was an interview with a number of list managers. Reid was asked about pick swaps and was non commital on 8 and 13 for 4 but said that was the sort of thing we'd consider. The interviewer then asked lethlean if 8 and 13 would get pick 4 and lethlean flat out said no.

Not interested even at 8 and 13. I’d back Ogilvie to get 400 games quality out of those two picks.
