So... how come players are voluntarily wanting to go to Brisbane? I smell an AFL fishy rag in the waters.
They finally have a decent coach and well ran by Noble.

It is not like stars are heading up there.

Just solid average players.

Who wouldn't want to live in God's country Jen?
Most footballers for as long as I can remember! ;) Just seems strange that all of a sudden it becomes palatable. It wasn't even palatable when they'd won 3 premierships in a row!

That certainly wasn't the thinking when Noble was at Adelaide .....just shows, we can't really judge an administrators performance from our vantage point

Isn't that why we got pick 12 for Charlie?
Yes. It's why we gave up a 2nd rounder for Hampton who GWS were happy to let leave too. They asked nicely because they needed points and Noble didn't fight too hard on the issue.

Same with him not pushing the issue with the second 1st rounder for Danger and actually gave back later picks for them to use. He's of the "accept unders/offer overs to keep relations happy" type guy.

The club was well run when he was here, he's just a total pushover at the trade table.
He's done Ok at Brisbane though? .....just get the player you need ! ...Hawthorn take the same approach & often overpay

Now, you maybe happy to stay “nothing to see here folks” but we went from being the best side in the compertition one year to missing the 8 and it has zero to do with talent or injuries as we beat Richmond with the large amount of injuries and we beat West Coast as well.

We only had 3 first 22 players on the injury list when we beat Richmond - Brad Crouch, Knight and Lynch. Douglas was suspended.

We beat West Coast without Betts, Brad Crouch, Knight and Lynch. Rat had been dropped. West Coast were missing Barrass, Darling, Kennedy, LeCras and Sheed.

Yes, but he's at a team where the young core was set before he got there, so it's easy to do that kind of thing. Plus with guys like Neale, they're picking up top end talent. We generally looked for castoffs that we hoped would develop.

People really are quick to get the whipping boy and jump at them wanting blood.

Fact is that Noble as a head of football was and still is an excellent administrator. Some of the work he has done at the AFC over his time here has been nothing short of outstanding. Let's put it this way, David Noble was head hunted by the AFL to sort out the mess in Brisbane. AFL don't head hunt incompetent operators.

David Noble's shortcomings are as a list manager in terms of negotiating trades. His long term outlook in what a premiership team looks like, the type of players to target, list needs, scouting etc... are excellent. Negotiating trades and getting a win for his team are not that great.

Now people forget that David Noble was unfairly lumped with so many responsibilities outside of his job description to the point where he was so thinly spread. David Noble as a head of football who has a list manager and the recruiting department and coaching department and reporting to him is an excellent operator.

Let me put it this way, I would take David Noble as a head of football in our current football department structure over his successor (Brett Burton) million times over. Noble is an outstanding operator and one thing he was not good at, he got crucified for it. It wasn't his official role. Once we appointed the list manager to take that responsibility away from Noble, we did a great thing. Its a pity that it was too late as the AFL had already headhunted him for the Brisbane role.

Think you're simply looking for excuses, not to conceded he's good at what he does ;)

Gov would have been traded today under Nobes.

Great administrator but soft negotiator.

Bit easier to approach it that way in Brisbane when you are loaded with the early picks and you have access to the academy talent there. Tougher to have that approach with the Crows who "never bottom out"
