Have you seen him a bit? 69 kgs and doesn't seem that fast either - kicking at 52% - compared to Kemp's 64% :thumbsupemoji: and Flanders 47% Young is 75% - I guess the guys in defense get a lot more cheap 'N easy ones, but still.....is 52% average?

I'd be worried by this pick.

Especially since Stephens is more of an outside player, so his kicking efficiency should be higher than a genuine inside mid.

Not really just like the look of him. Once he puts on size he looks a real inside outside competitor to me.

2.97 20m sprint (10th), 8.245 agility (10th), 6.01 2km time trial (3rd) were his draft combine highlights. Seems fast enough, certainly sees it as a key strength of his.

Not that keen on Flanders. Kemp I’d be happy with injury risk aside.

To be playing against men at his current size, and succeeding, says a fair bit to me.

He played two games of SANFL reserves on the inside. Ave 31 disposals with ave 19 contested possessions, 3 Marks, 3 tackles and 8 clearances.

So he seems to be able to play on the inside also.

Put on 15kg and those athletic figures are going to go down.

I have heard not to quite trust SANFL form for SA players as it can be misleading.

Oh well. I’d be happy if we selected him.
As I would probably any of Kemp, Young perhaps Serong. Not completely sold on Flanders but I’d trust the club if they took him, or just about anyone else for that matter. They are best placed to assess players ability and importantly character (and flight risk) of each individual

Ash looks a gun, even if it is perceived here that he is not what we need, I’d still be happy with him!

The weight is the reason I am a fraction nervous. I’d rather Flanders who is a nice size and offers something we don’t have a lot of. They are both good options though. At least it’s not some defender/might be mid

I was always worried about our first whilst Beatson was doing the picks but Dalrymples first or early picks are generally well above average.

Cannot believe GWS gifted Green at 10 or so if that happens.
Perhaps the AFL is directing this from the shadows...

May as well hand the cup to them next season, save the AFL having to rig the actual games.

Like when we got gifted Blakey at 10 last year?

Agreed his track record is very good with early picks

Would very happily take Ben Keays.

Was interesting when Beatson was asked why we weren’t interested in Green. “We are interested in a different sort of Mid.”

Not exactly sure what that means for our pick 5 and who may fit that different profile.

I read it as him correcting Mitch Cleary's incredulous reaction to Beatson saying we probably wouldn't bid on Green.

Cleary basically said 'you guys need midfielders, why arent bidding on Green ... it doesnt make sense' ... and Beatson's response was to say just because we probably wont bid on Green, doesnt mean we arent going to take a midfielder.

So what you're saying is; he's due a dud or two....:confounded:

Ok...🤪 listening to defensive beatson had the thought swans might trade 5 to say GC for 15 & 20. Allows them to target say Cooper Stephens or Dylan and kemp as well, who looks like a slider..seems like Beatson and Darymple have a few cards up their sleeves....or ports as mentioned above...

Really hope not! We better take pick 5/6 to the draft and take the selection
