Has everybody missed the Bradley Hill clone in Jeremy Sharp...

If Kemp gets to us (Carlton keenest ahead of us at 9) we probably have to take him with our first otherwise I hope we pull the trigger on Josh Worrell if Kemp is indeed gone. This leaves Port to take Stephens with the very next pick.

The first round pick we are trying to trade in is then key....
If it lands before Port and Geelong (DOUBTFUL) at 16, 17, 18 we'd have to strongly consider Josh Worrell (presuming we have Kemp in the bag) if available because he won't get past Port or the Cats at 16, 18, 19, 20.

We'd also be in the frame for Jeremy Sharp with the 2nd first rounded that we hopefully manage to trade in.

Add Finn to the mix and that is quite the draft haul.

Check them all out here if you haven't already - https://www.afl.com.au/draft/prospects

Hoping for:

Kemp/Worrell
Worrell/Sharp
Finn
And Lachlan Williams to slide to one of our later picks (presuming we have something left over from a Finn Bid which may also be unlikely)

A lot of people in here are on about us not being able to trade next years first round pick for a first round pick this year, which i agree is unlikely as a straight swap but if we were to do something like pick 11 & nexts years first for ports 12 & 16 or Geelong's 14 & 17 then it could be a way to use nexts years first to secure 2 first round picks this year. Obviously it leaves us open to other teams picking Finn before our second first round pick, but we certainly could end up with two first round picks if things fell our way on draft night.

Any talk of Port trading any of their first round picks is complete stupidity. Why would they trade their 2020 first round pick for pick 18 to only trade pick 18 for our 2020 first round. That's is one of the stupidest things I have seen on this board and anyone who perpetuates it is an embarrassment.

Just quietly, it's because Kane Cornes told them we're a monty for the spoon

Rumour- and it’s only a rumour. IF ....massive IF...Kemp and Stephens both available for Pick 11
then we will select Kemp leaving Port to pick Stephens with Pick 12.....the byproduct being they will trade Pick 18
to us for our 2020 1st round pick !?

Make of that what you will !?

i actually doubt Stephens will last that long.
I would hate to be in a situation where we are effectively relying on the integrity of Port after the way they conducted themselves with the Burton trade. I wouldn't trust them to honour any deal like that personally.

“We’ve talked a lot about him but Finn Maginess. He's going to be one who is a father-son at Hawthorn.

“They’ll match a bid for him. I think the way the draft is panning out, a bid may not come for him until much later than we expect and much later than it should come.

“It might not come until deep into the 20s. It’s the perfect result for Hawthorn because they’ve traded back.

“Everyone knows they are going to match, so clubs at that top end say do we have to put up our bid? Don't even bother. The interstate clubs don’t worry about it.

“He’s a player who I think if a bid comes at 25 onwards, we’ll look back in a couple of years and go, ‘geez, those clubs should have put their hands up earlier’.”

So, I just remembered that the draft is over 2 days now, top 20 Wednesday, all the rest Thursday.

AFL ****ing rah rah manufactured horseshit again.

Just do it at the one time, you ****ing manipulative campaigners

A medium sized halfback that plays a similar role to Stratton with Pick 11 when Kemp & Robertson are still available ...

I’m starting to believe the conspiracy theory that there is an agenda against Hawthorn and a desire to see us massively reach with Pick 11. And if it’s true then wow.

That being said Twomey also has a bid on Maginness coming at 26 which is a massive favour. I could see us trading into the early 20s with our future first to get another selection.

Kemp, Taylor, Maginness + a late Pick would be a great draft haul. Day, Taylor, Maginness is still good (I don’t think Day is a bad player) but not fantastic given what other options were available.

Cal Twomey has us taking Will Day at pick 11 (12 after the Green matching bid) - I feel a bit deflated if true.
[/QUOTE]
He also has Liam Henry not getting bid on until 18, Kemp going at 16. And Bianco going at 27!?! So I wouldn’t worry at all about who he has us taking.
I know I haven’t watched much under 18 football but the bit I did see. I saw Bianco hitting perfect kicks with his opposite foot that people in the AFL struggle with and he is going at 27?!?

The Hawks seem to be very tight lipped with regard to who they have an interest in drafting or trading. As a consequence the media never has much of an idea who we are likely to target. Reading between the lines Twomey says as much in listing several alternatives who may be available around our pick.
However, on Wednesday night the chess game starts and all will be revealed and we may find McKenzie’s rankings may be quite different from the amateur recruiters on social media.

Same. Weird selection. Of those left on his list, would much rather any of kemp, Robertson, Jones, Taylor or Rivers before Day, who I feel is overrated, makes too many errors n isn’t the class I’d want from pick 11.

No way we take Day if Kemp is still available.
Twomey is a campaigner who’s starting to believe his own press, listen to his podcast and you’ll understand why I take that view.

how many different phantoms has he put out now? One of them will be close and its pats on the back.

i cant see the actual clubs preferences have changed that much, why would they?

Fair call. If you’re referring to Rivers, I think he’ll end up playing in the midfield. I reckon his injury at the start of the year curtailed his fitness leading into the u18 championships. But by reports, was doing well in the centre by the end of the year. Probably my second least favourite on that list, but still prefer him to Day. (Unless you’re referring to Day in the first place, then just ignore this post!)

Day sounds very vanilla. Would be disappointed if Kemp, Robertson, Henry (at least bid!) still on the board.

As I’ve said previously I do not think Robertson gets passed us. The Day selection would be very odd to me.

On Twomey’s predictions, clubs getting ridiculous value on Green, Henry and Maginness with clubs not bothering to bid at right times

All these phantom drafts seem to be based on a clubs current perceived needs rather than who's the best player which early on is unlikely to pan out.

Random choice considering how many Flankers we already have. If that's the way we're going to go though and the club gets wind Finn might go second round surely we push our 11 back with 2020 first and look at geelongs 14+17
