I’d go into trade week with a paper clip and come out with Bontempelli
You could do that deal and people would still complain about us not getting enough value for the paper clip. I mean, what's going to hold the paper together now it is gone? Did you think of that?

Obviously the club believes they can get him on the park or we wouldn't be offering him $800k.
May I introduce you to Sam Reid, Kurt Tippett, Matt Ling (first round pick), Buddy Franklin and assorted other players we thought we could get on the park. Lol

Management: “AJ did his knee again”
Docs: “No worries, we can get anyone back on the track. See what we did with Mal?”
Management: “Ok, we trust you”

The other thing that keeps getting ignored is that most people harping on about not wanting Daniher want us to pick up Serong.

Serong is 178cm. Campbell is also 178cm. Gulden is 172cm. We just going to build a midfield full of short people?
That Tom Mitchell is a giant at 182cm and and was the king of clearances in 2018.

That Lachie Neale is a midget at 177cm and was the king of clearances in 2019. 2nd in Avg.

Yep, you know your footy.

Premiership player and B&F Dion Prestia at 175cm and clearance leader for the Tigers.

Rowbottom is 186cm
Hewett is 188cm
Parker is 183cm

Size isnt everything. Facts says so.

Just joined social media today the reason why because of the rumors of Swans going after Daniher and looking at dropping pick 5 and 9 (if Papley goes for 9) I'm reading on the AFL Website, surely this cannot be the case. A team struggling down back, no grade A ruckman, short elite midfielders and we may give up the castle for Daniher who is an injury liability. You can get any player in the comp for pick 5 & 9 including a certain B Grundy (if he was ever interested going north). One we will be too top heavy, but still struggling for a tall key experienced defender and a proven ruckman. Its insane if the club goes down this track, not just the picks but kills the cap also going forward. If we do get Daniher and he fails to play surely there has to be consequences for management at the club Recruitment/ Harley etc....
Looking forward to the experience on big footy, one passionate loyal travelling supporter.

Papley was once a paper clip. A rookie pick. So were Lloyd, rampe, jack and Grundy. Paperclips can definitely do the same job as a staple, if not better. Hence why we're here, and the club's recruiting staff are upstairs with a job to do.

Agree regarding Reid, but Buddy is 33, and a lot of Tippett's injuries were honestly just rotten luck that stemmed from that Carlton player falling on his leg. The only major mistake regarding Tippett was extending him on a lucrative contract, but part of me wonders whether that was an automatic trigger, or an in-principle agreement we met to not bed a bad reputation for making false promises.

As for Ling, well that's more evidence that pick 5 is no sure thing either. And pick 5 doesn't have an elite AA AFL season under their belt.

I agree that size isn't everything. But if you're going to use Neale, you should probably also mention that bigger bulls like Mitch Robinson and Jarrod Berry are pretty handy to how he goes about his work. Besides, I was reflecting on the prospect of having a midfield almost entirely made up of blokes less than 180cms tall. It's not ideal.
Yep, you know your footy.
Needless attack.

Very different game plan, as has already been noted. Also joined by more physical players like Cotchin and Dusty which allow him to go about his work.

Literally never said it was.

The Sam Reid that played 22 games this season?
Good signs for sure, but the fact that one full season is impressive isn't really a good thing.

I just don't get how a player playing every game for the season can be used as evidence that our medical team isn't capable of getting players on the park. No doubt Sam has had a couple of bad injury interrupted years, but since 2012 he has managed 20 games or more in 6 out of 8 years.

Fair point, and it's arguably a good sign with respect to Daniher. Like I said before, Tippett was largely unfortunate, and Buddy is 33, so not exactly the most compelling evidence.

Welcome to big footy bigO, 5 and 9 massive overs for Daniher although I'm happy to give up pick 5 as I think we have enough quality youth.

I'm just hoping the $ being offered isn't over the top.

I have a few concerns about the trade.

1. Physical fitness
2. Constant form so far unproven in last two year
3. Cap space
4. Mortgaging the future with our highest pick since McVeigh

Daniher is a talent, at the current asking price and recent history would be a no

BigO. Started his account today and started this #$%^ fight again if we use 5&9 for Daniher.

Our club is going to stagnate for the next 5 years and become the Norf. Play finals but NEVER to get close to winning a premiership.

I am clearly into the draft option then the banged up forward option.

Our club will lie for the length of his contract of about his groin.

2 week injury out for 4 months.

Serenity now!
