A footballer, if they are lucky, has about ten years to make as much as they can from their talent before their body isn't up to it.

If another club gives him the chance to end that 10 years $500k to $1m better off than if he stayed at the Swans, it would make perfect sense to make the change.

Hawthorn are clearly going down the Geelong path by recruiting for a premiership within the next few years. It's a risky move but much easier for a Victorian club than it would be for us.

Re Worpel, how he slipped so low in the draft is beyond me. He was a top ten draft pick 12 months earlier.

I was under the impression that he was roomies with Jordan Dawson. Not sure where I saw that but somewhere along the line I have seen it.

Hawks need pick 11 for their F/S Finn McGuinness, who according to Twomey & Co is now sneaking into a top 10 prospect. So I’d rather not, because any offer is going to be shite from them.

Yep its a clear strategy ignoring the draft and using their picks to trade in established players.

He did. Bigger ground at the MCG might have helped him there. We have COR for a speedy half back now, and a few others in line too. Probably don't need another. Maybe Adelaide for him? They're clearing the decks.

Certainly appear to be chipping away methodically....injured players but mostly with proven talents..clear best 22 when healthy. Compare that to Port of a few yrs ago when they went gung ho for mostly veteran fringe players, perhaps not too dissimilar to GC this yr and which have some smell of desperation particularly when factoring in the contract lengths/amounts.

Dang! Richmond must be loving sitting back and watching all these teams go after them...often via trades that don't appear to make too much sense etc.

Why is Papley, fresh from a leadership promotion, best ever season, contract extension and traipsing around Europe with six of best work buddies, doing this to the swans - the very organisation that transformed him from a life shovelling out s**t to an elite footballer that gets to hang out with Buddy etc. Also the same organisation both his granddaddies player for.

So right now she’s just the girlfriend in another city ... but if he moves in with her down there, boom they’re de facto and half that mega salary is now hers ...even if they break up in a year or two. 23 year old plumbers come footballers aren’t always across the finer details of family law ...hope someone explains this to him before he throws his legacy away

which intrigues me why some think he's worth 2 x 1st rounders given his contract status, yet, happy to accept late 2nd round scraps for jones acknowledging same situation...

If no daniher/paps to headline trade talks, wonder if people would still accept chicken salted chips for jones?

Seriously if that's all we can get for him (assuming he's only moving for money), i'd prefer to up the ante and keep him.

When the swannies are back on the rise, the paps n the jones are the ones you wanna keep cos you just know they'll be the ones running amok, tearing up opposition.
