Fisher still hasnt turned 21.
I love Fish 🐟

Has been caught a few times trying to do too much but sometimes I think to myself that he doesn’t see an option up ahead so he tries to create one.

His evasive skills are elite. Little terrier.

Just thinking about Goddard - Would it make sense to trade him out for a small forward/back-man.
Goddard has been in good form, but also seems a little lighter and a lot more agile than he was at the start of the year (Russell?), reads the ball in the air well and has a good kick on him.
What if we approached a team that requires a solid lock-down defender and we manufactured a deal for a best 22 player for us, that may not be getting opportunity in their team.

LeBois has all but run out of chances. It's going to take something special from him now, for us to now place him onto our senior list.
Polson is also miles away from getting another senior game for us. He is contracted though.

Would we take for a pick ~40/50 for Casboult should someone think they could do with him for a couple of years?

Just feel that SOS/Agresta may have to get really creative this year. There's little choice actually.
Seems that we've positioned ourselves already to be creative and that started 8 months ago.

Casboult is a FA ?
By seasons end he will have racked up quite a few senior appearances this year so we might gain some compensation should another club bite.
Would Richmond be interested in Goddard as a bit of Rance insurance ?
Maybe we could manufacture some kind of trade for Butler or Bolton.
Bring in Papley or Billings for the crows pick.
Adding 2 of Papley , Billings , Butler , Bolton would add so much to the team.

What happens when Jones is right to come back? Casboult has been doing so well as a KPD/Ruck? And we def cant fit them both in?

Genuine question - when was the last time we had to drop someone who genuinely hadn't deserved to be dropped, but because there was a better option? .... Jones was in great form prior to being injured, simply offers a little more explosive beast than Cas does, and his kicking is not as 'oh sweet jesus please hit that target in deep defence' as Cas'.

Jones and/or McKay can offer a chop out in the ruck.

Re. Goddard: GWS, Sydney, Bulldogs and what about St.Kilda? :)

Unlikely to come about, but can see Goddard making for a not so difficult sell to a club in need of a lock-down defender.
I didn't like Goddard early on, but he's proved me wrong. He is though somehow quicker and sharper than he was earlier this year.
He's upping his ranking in just about every game he's played.

We're unlikely to be discussing Goddard as a legitimate trade but maybe only because he's a rookie. I think that could change.

Yeah, not getting easier nor cheaper - 27 possessions kicking 5.2

Did we seriously have posters suggest we don't require someone like him?
Maybe we didn't but he's exactly what we need and to have visions of Polson or LeBois doing this.......No. That's highly unlikely.
Easily worth our adelaide pick and theres zero change coming back if we went after him. He is exactly what we need.

Actually starting to think we have 90% of the puzzle pieces (even after a 2-9 start). Im a big believer in Dow and LOB going into next year and dont see our midfield as much of a problem as some. Setterfield will get better also and including Doc and perhaps Williamson into calculations means we a looking pretty good in the back half and middle.

Papley is clearly a key target and hope we really go hard at him.

Other than that, im really ok with how our club is tracking. If we get over the dogs this week i think it puts us in a decent light for potential signings at the end of the season, no matter how the rest of the year plays out.

Put it however which way you like, but we are well above what we were last year (even if the w column isn't showing it). The 80% that i was expecting as the key fact of showing improvement is within grasp. Players aren't dumb when looking at their future... make no mistake, people who want to play finals can see where we are headed with this young group

Can someone tell me why we are thinking of trading goddard. We havent had depth for years and as soon as we get some we are happy for him to go for better opportunities. No. keep him at all costs. Marchbank has a big injury history and jones or casbault could easily get injured or lose form. Keep for me

Dont think we would get anything for a rookie not playing seniors anyways. So yeah i agree

On SEN this morning they said Papley is contracted next season to the Swans.

If true, why is there so much Papley talk? Clearly the Swans will keep him for 2020.

Or did Radar get it wrong?

Because Goddard will find it difficult to shift Jones Weitering Marchbank and Plowman from the senior team.
In addition, we have Macreadie and B.Silvagni as developing KPD.
If Goddard can parlay into a starting senior 22 small forward or defender it’s a big win for the club.

Shiel was contracted for this year too.
It’s not uncommon for a club to extract value a year early for a player they think/know will leave in 12 months time.
Barrass has posted that Papley may be looking to return home to Melbourne and it has been reported that his gf lives in Melbourne.
We have the need for his type, we have the trade currency and the cap space to get it done.

Still want us to keep an eye on Michael Bennell in the WAFL. Let's see what he can sustain/produce this season and weigh up if he's worth throwing a lifeline to. Overlooked mid-season draft (like so many others).

His only knock is that he doesn't touch it enough....averaging 6.5 disposals a game, which many would see as sub-standard. But this guy as a permanent FP has something about him. In 8 games has only kicked it 37 times for 21 goals and amassed 37 tackles. If Papley was producing that for the Blues, we would be licking our lips, saying what a great trade, and how dangerous our F50 is for opposition. If Papley's limited touches resulted in 2.5 goals a game and tackling havoc, we'd be most happy about nabbing him. Let's keep an eye on the WAFL and this 25 yo emerging phenom.

Note : recent State game vs South Australia : 7 kicks, 9 tackles (3 goals 2 behinds)

Was thinking about this yesterday. For example, offer up Goddard to the Bulldogs for that guy we were supposedly interested in, Bailey Dale.

183cm flanker, 22-23 years old, good fit for our club.

Need to look to offload one player in our position of excess.

If the idea is to bulldog a premiership team these are the player I'm 100% sold on

B Jones
HB Docherty Weitering
C Walsh Cripps
HF Curnow Cuningham
F McKay
R Fisher SPS
INT

I'm 75% sold on these player
Dow
Setterfield
Stocker
Williamson
Marchbank
Pickett
De Koning
O'Brien
Plowman
JSOS

We (and every other club) should be having a massive crack at Whitfield.
Be prepared for Hawthorn to be in box seat. Whole family are massive hawks supporters.
Papley is another we should target but his price is getting higher by the week.
Know a family member. Happy in Sydney atm, & under contract next year. Unlikely to move whilst still under contract.
In saying the above, if the financial enticement is right, anything's likely to happen.

Whitfield, Papley & Martin in that order over the next two years would be perfect.

Is there a player type that we are crying out for more than Whitfield? Cripps, Dow & Setterfield feeding it out to Walsh, SPS & Whitfield and then delivering it to McKay, Curnow & McGovern. That team would have dynasty potential.

When does Whitfield become a free agent? Thinking about it I’d forget Martin and go for a cheap electric quick small forward that kicks plenty of goals from a state league and throw the stack at Whitfield.

When I thought of the Dogs, this was exactly the player that came to mind - Bailey Dale.

A bit on the outer right now and may be possibly be a 'get' in the right situation.
These sorts of little trades should always be in the offing. Both players aren't getting proper opportunity at their own club, yet may get it elsewhere.
So what if we're talking about the 'little' moves? Get enough of these right and you may get a little lucky here or there.

Would not be surprised if hawthorn went hard for Whitfield. Would be interesting if we snared Clarkson before trade period.

As for papley, I recall barass saying he wants to come home. I’m not doubting your sources but sometimes family members have to tow the line.

I feel like Cain liddle has been our most important pick up. He is the new school coe. Knows the workings of the contemporary corporate world.
MLG old school corporate guy.
Cain and Judd these 2 will prove to be our main guys. Both articulate extremely well.

I heard second hand from MLG that Judd is the smartest guy at Carlton and he is the biggest asset we have. With him and Cain at the helm, I believe we are in safe hands

Think it was Bailey Williams we were supposedly into. Not Bailey Dale. Or was there something else I missed?
