Really...
1 first, a second, a third, a fourth and Acres for Hill and a third?

And people still unhappy...

a first and a second was worth less than walking away. Gave a third and received a third. Who cares about a fourth.

How you evaluate the outcome of this trade depends on how you value Acres and I'm undecided atm. I think it could have been worse but I'm not impressed with Bell atm and would have been much happier keeping Hill.

Mate go and have a look at the Saints board, they're furious that Acres had to be involved.

At the end of the day, Hill wanted out. We can say that we hold all the cards as much as we want but at the end of the day, players usually get what they want.

90% of the posts on the Saints board they are over the moon with the trade.

Acres is probably about equivalent for the future 3rd going back.

So 10 + 2nd + 4th. That's pretty reasonable. Not a massive win, not a massive loss. Would have preferred to keep Brad Hill quite frankly but oh well, can't be helped I guess.

Media pumped St Kilda up. Especialy Morris. Surprise Surprise

We gave away Mayne, got pick 24 in return used that to get Hill.
He played great years for us and we get a pick 10, Acres and second rounder in return.
That's exceptional.

Hill was a salary cap dump for the Hawks thats why they left him go so easily.

Yes we did get good return on Mayne in the end but Hill developed alot under us too.

two years left on the contract we had the high ground and we just let them take him for peanuts.

I live near Moorabbin, and not long after 3pm it started bucketing down. If that doesn't tell me the Saints aren't happy then I don't know what else to tell you

EDIT: an hour later and there's thunder

Like it, don’t love it.

Belly effectively said we will now aim to bundle up some pics and move higher in the order. Probably not today - live teasing

What will make this trade in due course -

- Acres becomes top 16
- top 10 pick is a 200 game player
- future 2nd enables a bundle to get into this year’s first round
- hill breaks his leg in the pre season

that is exactly the two seperate deals within the one trade...meant Hill = about 2320 points (10 and 19)

Too early to call a definitive winner IMO.

If Acres becomes legit best 22, we've done very well, especially if 10 nets one of our top targets.

But...as it stands Saints would have to be happier to have retained that 2020 first.

If any of pick 10, the second rounder or Acres becomes a gun then we've won.

It's a trade that looks unclear right now but we have a very good chance of winning looking back in hindsight because we have so many bites at the draft out of it, as well as a player with some untapped potential.

I’d love to melt about how we got murdered but unfortunately my crystal ball is in storage.
Seriously people how can you come to educated conclusions when we haven’t used the picks or seen what Acres can provide us? Hill didn’t want to be here so I’m thinking good riddance to a great player. Brother Stephen will be like a new recruit next year anyway if we keep him fit and I’d rather his skills over Brad’s.
Keep Calm and Go The Dockers! Things are looking up and I welcome Blake to our club and wish him all the best.

Trade Tracker initially had it as just Hill we gave up. Then it added a 3rd rounder we give. I hope it bloody stops now....

since Hill staying wasn't actually an option (hot gf and triple his current salary in Melb), I'm keen to see a future 200 game WA player taken at 10, plus see what JLo can do with Acres and Aish.
