Comparisons between Stephens and Robertson I think is difficult as they are quite different in the roles and value outcomes. Stephens clean and neat in everything he does (on his left side), reads the play well and finishes well. Creates and links up play really well.

Robertson is a gem at the inside work and quite good on both sides of his body under pressure....something we don't really get a chance to see of Stephens. I have no doubt that Robertson is better in his disposal under less pressure but the fact that he is a ball winner in congestion and also has shown vision and link capacity bodes well.

Really hope we get both as they will complement each other so well imop. Thats my early study at least of the two. Hi to grampa Bill the old Feddies gun...must be proud of Deven:thumbsu:
Yes I agree with what you are saying and also hope we get both.

The only issue that I see is that when I read your description of Robertson, I could substitute the name Valente and he fits the same position. If I read your description of Stephens I struggle to find a young up and comer, and with the loss of Hill and Langdon he hits an area of high need. Perhaps Sturt, but seems a long way off.

Going to melt pretty hard if we end up having list space used up by late picks and average VFL plodders, rather than trading 2020 picks to get more selections in the top 20 this year.
The hardest thing will be getting buyers for 2020 picks as the draft looks compromised and 2019 picks will be more valuable than 2020

We will have as many as three open rookie list spots.
Only if we delist multiple players, Carter stays as a Category B rookie and we go with less than 40 players on the senior list.

Honestly I'd predict that we delist t we o but promise to rookie them both, Carter stays as Category B and how many list spots we run with depends on where bids for Henry and maybe Butters come. For example a bid for Henry at 11 would basically wipe out the rest of our picks.

I feel Bennell would end up being a mid to late pick, Martin will go at whatever pick that Carlton has.
Bennell indicated he won’t nominate for draft - wants the choice. There are two Delisted FA periods which might be an option:
13/11 - 22/11 or 28/11 - 02/12

Alternatively the pre-season supplemental selection period from 01/12/19 through to mid March 2020. This would give Bennell’s preferred club the option of him returning to training prior to being selected. He isn’t going to be ready to run and start modified training until January.

Jack Martin won’t nominate for ND he will nominate for PSD with a price on his head. There has been some talk about Carlton and GCS organising a minor pick swap prior to the next list lodgement on 22/11 so that GCs could delist Martin and allow him to be signed as a DFA. Seems more likely he will work his way through the PSD to Carlton.

The NGA's don't matter as they are Category B's. If they are bid on we will pass, if they’re not they get listed without affecting how many Cat A rookis spots we have. If Carter stays on the B list we will have 2 free category A spots, no matter what happens (unless we renege on the Hughes and Giro upgrades, but then we would have 5 main list spots free). I think we are intending to take only 3 picks, but need the 5 point bearing picks live come draft day.

Assuming no pre draft trades or live trades and Henry gets bid on at 8, then so be it. We take 7,8 and 22 and trade or pass on the 58 and 69. To me the 3 picks only makes sense, as if Henry is not bid on till after pick 10 then it is highly likely that picks 58 and 69 become 95 and 113 (80 and 81 once everyone passes) and we’re not taking two picks in the sixth round.

Even if I’m wrong (likely) either way we are going to have minimum 2 low draft picks spots available, whether rookie or 4th round and on main draft, to fill with players like this Kemp that came up. (Or at least 1 if we are planning on moving Carter to Cat A. Although I can’t see the point of that from a list management perspective since it just deprives us of a list slot we were getting for free.)

I'd be interested to see who the 25 were that got invited to Freo's mini combine.

Is this a thing happening only in Victoria? Was it non state/national combine attendees? Who attended?

Maybe we'll never know

Hoping this is a rookie hunt. Maybe had our eye on one or two but invite a big group to hide who we are looking at.

Good grief not the ole so and so has been delisted what about ...

I’m more interested to see what actual list changes we make before 11am tomorrow. We seem to be the only club left who hasn’t finalised their list changes ahead of tomorrow’s list lodgement. As it stands we seem to have 3 primary list spots available but 5 if both Hughes and Giro remain on the rookie list.

We’re struggling for list space as is without adding injury prone plodders like Henderson. How he managed that last finals game for Geelong I’ll never know. Played terribly as well.

Menadue it seems will be a shot for our last ND spot (if we have space) or the rookie list. Perhaps we have balked at more than 1-year contract and want have our options open rather than commit via DFA. Although DFA window hasn’t opened yet.
