Robertson isn't a KPD, he's a big bodied midfielder/tagger that also plays a medium defence role

He's not a KPD Pete, he's a hard nosed medium defender/tagger, plays the game in a hard combative style a la Mitch Robinson .

He's not amazing but he's definitely better than guys like Riley Knight, Rory Atkins, David Mackay as midfielders and I'd also play him over Jake Kelly because I think he's more versatile

Keath and 21 for 12 would be about right. Pretty sure a deal was done a few years back where picks 21 and 22 (or around that mark) were traded for pick 11, so it values Keath at a mid-20’s mark probably

Leaves us with 3, 12 and 14, a drastically improved draft position

Robertson? The only thing that makes sense is if we were going to get a big payday from trading Laird/Smith that Brisbane would need to make some room in their TPP. Maybe we take someone like NR who they overpaid in order to allow them to make room.

I’m on board for that. Just delist him in 2 years if he isn’t best 22.

Not overly skilfull but I've watched a lot of NEAFL this year watching youngsters I have an interest in and have to say he's a class above that and really like his toughness. Youngsters like Witherden, Berry and McCluggage coming on so quickly has probably made it tough for him but I certainly could see value in him with his tough no nonsense style and he's also very strongly built. If we use him as a tagger he's your boy, don't think too many players would like to see him come to them at the first bounce.

Conspiracy theory, no intel:

Anyone think we may have been in discussions with GC for Luko, told them B Crouch is on the table, and they’ve had a bite offering a huge contract?

GC has put an extension on the table that remains sans signature. My view is that it’s a strategy and that Luko is now in their ‘trade while contracted for max value’ basket. From there you identify a player you want and swap out a likely departee with a mid aged, high quality stayer. They can’t build from the draft, they need mid and high end hardened bodies, trading is the only way to do that and better to max out selling value whilst you have the opportunity.

If it did go down that way I’d say we were in discussions with GC and told them who was/wasn’t on the table.

Alternatively maybe GC were Brad or GTFO.

Either way it smells a bit like Brad being pushed out as a sacrifice, with the mega $$$ deal offered healing the bruise.

Luko not signing would have GC looking at opportunities to cash in his value whilst at its highest.

If we’re going with a rookie coach, Burton’s impressive CV becomes even more important in guiding our new cia h through the many pitfalls encountered by first year senior coaches. I doubt a first time senior coach would even consider taking the job if there was any doubt that Burton wouldn’t be hanging around. He’s just that good, ask Fagan and whoever the **** “the AFL” is.

He'd been virtually on field coaching at Hawthorn for the last 4 or 5 years of his time there which Clarkson has mentioned and he's been doing that for his 2 years at Brisbane along with working withn the youngsters development.

It's a myth that players need to spend years as Assistants to be any good....you can either coach or you can't.

One of the things O'Keefe said about his time at the AFC was how much time was spent at the club or doing things connected to coaching IE video reviews, making notes from videos, making notes from games etc

He specifically made the comment that as a player you don't see all that

I do agree Hodge has what it takes to be a coach, does he have the time patience

And no I don't think he has experienced it as much as he would as head coach

Carlton are absolutely not giving up pick 8 in any deal involving Betts.

Suns are landing Ellis from Richmond as a free agent, no trade required there.
