I hope we have a retirement party for David MacKay and a house warming party when he moves back to Melbourne for Ben Hart.

Mackay is not only a certainty for 2019, he is a lock for Round 1 2020.

He will again have an amazing preseason, this is the part of the year that David excels in.

All I have heard is he wants to stay, he likes Adelaide, he isn't going to ask for a trade, but his manager is currently canvasing the league for deals to gauge what he could get for his upcoming extension. If we decide we're not paying his asking price and contract length (he wants 4 years at a minimum) then he's open to being moved on to get that deal.

As to what the offers would be or what we'd accept, I have no idea.
So the club wants to sugn him up, he wants to stsy there's no issues about cash yet the manager is still shopping him around.

I guess that's his job 😳

Pretty much.

It's like Hugh Greenwood said previously on his podcast. He wants to stay, wanted to negotiate with the club on an extension, but his manager had to go out and find him alternative options should he need them. Brad's manager would be doing the same, doesn't necessarily indicate intentions, but a manager isn't going to leave his client in the lurch with just one option on the table. Brad may not even be aware or interested in the finer details of it all, but his manager needs to protect his clients interests.

Brads manager will be scouting options only because Brad has asked him to.

If rumours are to be believed he wants to stay, is happy to stay, if the money is right.

His manager is probably helping him size the amount of what is right

Jacob's to Gws next year.

We should be applauding this more, a 2-year contract for a Restricted Free agent, could mean a 2nd to the end of 2nd round comp pick, depending on how much they are paying.
If he was going for a 1-year contract then it would have been the 3rd pick regardless of the wage.

We won’t get a pick at all for Jacobs

If he goes to GWS, they would probably do it via trade (ie 5th round pick) instead of FA so as not to affect their Coniglio compo.

Geelong did similar when we recruited JPod.

The compensation pick is base on the new contract (Length of contract and Payment of the contract) and by the age of the player.
Age generally means the high end of the 5 levels available compensations levels,
A 2-year contract put it in the 4-5 level = end of 2nd or 3rd.
If he on good money for 2 years then it could go down to level 3 = 2nd round comp pick.
