Do you have a firm source on that?

I've heard the same thing.

All the talk is to the Saints but I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at Carlton now that Coniglio appears to be staying at GWS. Also wouldn't surprise me if this was planned a LONG time ago. It just makes sense for Carlton who want a big body to help out Cripps. They don't need another kid. And we've conveniently not changed our gameplan and tanked our pick down to a top 8 pick.

I'm expecting us to have picks 2 picks in the top 8. 3 + 5/8 (Saints/Carlton) with steak knives to even up the trade.

Rumour has it the board met quickly last night and decided Pykes fate there and then!

Expect an announcement from media journo's by 10am

Yeah, you don't meet at an emergency board meeting, release the decisions made to the media to announce your support of the coach who has overseen the desolation of your club.

AFC : hold my beer.

You are flat out bulls**tting mate, and it’s pathetic.

COMPENSATION

A club that has a net loss of players transferring to/from other clubs as free agents in one transfer period is entitled to compensation via National Draft picks allocated by the AFL.

The compensation formula produces a points rating for players based on:

1. The new contract of the free agent;
2. The age of the free agent.

Draft picks are allocated to clubs based on the net total points for free agents lost and gained during the transfer period.

Draft picks will be allocated to one of five places:

• 1st round
• end of 1st round
• 2nd round
• end of 2nd round
• 3rd round

In applying the formula, an expert committee reviews the formula outcomes. The committee has the power to recommend alternative outcomes to GM – Football Operations where the formula produces a materially anomalous result.

“They start at the position a player is rated”. I’ve not read anything as completely stupid as that. The idea of the formula is to end with a rating of the player, they don’t start with it.

I don’t rate Pyke and want him gone. But if he is sacrificed prior to any review that looks at Burton’s influence on player mindset then I’ll be pretty disappointed. Actually, that’s an upward trending feeling. I’d be ****ing livid. But I am definitely heading towards complete and utter ambivalence. Roo’s comment put a cherry on top of my view of the culture of our admin.

Easily answered - have you seen our gameplan? No running required. Just kick to one stationary target after another, until the opposition blocks all the easy targets, at which point you bomb it to a stationary contest down the line.

Oh dear

What about the approx 75% of the game time this season we spent without the footy?

For the review to be effective it should already be happening.

No point having found we need to change key staff when every other club has already contracted their coaching panels and other football department staff.

There’s only 2 people that I’d like to do the review - it doesn’t need a big corporate company either like KPMG - Malcolm Blight and Leigh Matthews.

So two guys who were up to speed 20 years ago but would have no idea what a review would look like in 2019?

Yeah I'm not sure why people are obsessed with getting in ex-AFL players who haven't been in the game for two decades to do a review
Agree, it’s a multi layer, multi million dollar corporation.

I want a top to bottom corporate review not just some ex players commenting on selection.

Richmond had it right using Ernst and Young

Exactly.

We’ve been incapable of enacting the obvious changes of sacking Chapman, Burton, Hass so what are the odds of doing anything meaningful between now and a review?

The review won’t be completed on time for upcoming season, plus we will only make easy calls based on it (maybe one scapegoat but no real change).

2020 will be the lowest ebb of the AFC.

Our main hope in the short term is Reid/Ogilvie do the best they can as Part 1 of the next 2 off seasons in rebuilding our list.

Then we await the carnage after next season before picking up the pieces.
