I think they'll give up about Papley.

Reported that they have cooled on Butler, FWIW. Any reason we wouldn’t talk to Butler ourselves, by the way?

I'm not knocking him as a player or a trade possibility, it's just the whole hype that seems to emerge once a player gets mentioned in the media in relation with us.

Example: I just put the words "Dougal" and "Howard" in to the searh engine under your username, and not a single hit emerges in relation to him prior to the 20th of September 2019.

Again, it's the trade period. We are on a North board so of course our focus would be on our own players when you've just finished the season. It's not possible to know every player in the league, especially not the young fringe ones. Just like it isn't in the draft period. If you are linked with someone you might go back and do some digging and think about scenarios of how the trade could happen and how he fits in the team. Not to mention the length of his contract - another reason why you wouldn't talk about him.

Factoring in the time of year and the news in what world would this not happen? It's a football blog - you know how big footy works. It's the trade period. It would be more peculiar if I mentioned a contracted fringe KPP as an option for North during the season when most thought Thompson was playing on and we had high hopes for McKay. Nope, that is the most appropriate time to mention Dougal Howard...not now...not during trade season

I think it should be an option. We can't have a largely stay at home forward pocket kicking 8 and 12 goals a season.

Butler has kicked 30 goals in a season before and is almost equal to Kayne in other areas.

Moving Turner to defence and Butler to the forward line makes us a better team IMO.

I can't find mileage per game figures but going to guess Turner blitzes him for KMs and probably ability to play a role.

Btw not saying we couldn't do with bolstering our opportunistic small forward stocks, but can't see how this bloke achieves that.

I'm really keen for us to trade next years 1st for a pick in this years 1st round and 2nd.

With the amount of talent that will go in academy picks, FS and the GC concessions we are better off getting in this year. A lot of depth in the 1st and 2nd round this year.

Butler is okay, but seriously, is there any logical reason we would have kept Hosie & Mckenzie on the list if we were going to be seriously looking at the likes of Butler?
