With little footy in ‘20 keeping multiple spots open for the mid season draft could have value. If we add Briskey we’d still have one position open and in 2019 long term injuries opened up others. I can’t remember when we didn’t suffer any LTI during a season, in any case I’d take a chance on Briskey and worry about the mid season later.

Espically in a Position of Need

Agreed. I think Briskey deserves a spot at this point. Has done everything right,

The 18-year-old, who hails from South Australia, joined the Bombers in the Supplemental Selection Period, along with former Eagle Alec Waterman.

“There was a little bit of interest from Richmond and Collingwood early on,” Baldwin told SEN SA Breakfast.

“But I’m pretty stoked to be at Essendon.”

Not sure if he means early on from last years draft, or this year.

The way it’s written it sounds as if we showed a little interest recently. I’d say we were probably keeping tabs on him in the hope he might be available mid season if his knee held up.
Considering he didn't train with them, you'd have to think the Dons went fully on reports about his knee. Must have been sold as long as the knee was progressing how they hoped. Considering he's done two knees already, he'll be the first Essendon recruit in 30 years that I'll wish well - except Tippa.

Honestly I think they heard we and Richmond were interested, panicked, and pulled the trigger early. Time will tell if it was the right call for them, but it’s definitely a typical Dodoro move.

Probably his player manager playing the player. I've been told by a junior watcher l know that before the knees he was a smart footballer but seemed vanilla for afl. I'm not too concerned TBH.

I’ve seen a few of his highlights and he seemed anything but vanilla. Dynamic and exciting were the words that came to mind. I know they were only highlights, but they were bloody impressive, as were his pre-injury numbers. Most junior watchers had him in the top handful of his draft on talent, not sure why your guy feels so differently. You sure you’re not confusing him and Callow?

The 2021 AFL Record Season Guide has him at 200cm (and 91kg), so it looks like he's finally been measured properly! That would now be his "official" measurement and it's what should be shown on the club website (whenever they get around to updating it!) and elsewhere.

Draft Guru - Anton Tohill Height: 198cm Weight: 86kg Originally from: County Derry Born: 14 Dec 1999 … this from a few years ago, so probably has grown a but is definitely much taller than Keane.

Moves really well for a big unit, exciting prospect..
Yeah. So I can understand why we may have passed on Briskey at this stage. Maybe it was also a closer look to see if he had more potential than the talls we currently have on our list.
I think we have our fair share of those over 194cm in the seconds with Cameron, Tohill, Keane, Kelly, Wilson, Lynch, McMahon.

Topping up with the likes of Wells and Mayne has been at the expense of adding quality kids, the reality now is we need half a dozen players (some elite) to replace our upcoming retirees, 2 from each part of the ground

Backs
Roughead Howe

Mids
Pendlebury Sidebottom

Forwards
Cox Thomas

Cox isn't playing at the moment but Cameron is a like for like replacement and we need a real key forward. Thomas needs to be replaced with one of those special players, the magical ones that can turn a game off their own boot, maybe it's Nick Daicos but I reckon we'll need him to reboot the midfield

With 3 More Games to Goal in there Debut Season looks like we might of had a Very Special Draft

Henry,Macrare,Poulter.Mcreery and Ginnivan have shown some very Good Signs during there Debut Seasn that they could be Good Long Term AFL Footballers for us
