Really odd move by the Bombers to sign him without even inviting him to train over the summer...
Yeah that's odd if he didn't train with them. I suppose he must have done a physical which ticked their boxes. At draft time he might not have been in a position to tick that box.

Is he even in Vic right now? Last I heard he was training up on the Gold Coast and going to play in their VFL side.

Meanwhile we will sign some long shot skinny defender from an NRL state
Are you saying that a player who’s done two ACL’s before his draft year is likely to have a long and full career? He’s one knee short of Matt Scharenberg without even stepping on an AFL field.

There's no reason why he can't make a full recovery, I admit it's a bit risky but if it comes off then the Bombers are going to look pretty good, let's wait and see how he goes first, there is a lot more knowledge that goes into a decision like this than we will ever know. the only strange thing to me is that they went out and targeted 4 key position players who will probably end up playing the same position

I agree, but let’s not pretend that Baldwin is any more likely to make it than Briskey at this point. 2 ACL’s can play havoc with running and jumping ability.
I’m not so surprised they they grabbed him in addition to their other talls. At 192cm he’s more a 3rd tall than a genuine KPF. I think if he manages to get himself right he would compliment their forward line nicely.

You are allowed to have more than 1 player training with you, we just chose not to. Clearly the only one they are interesred in was briskey
Is he on the list?

Collingwood are likely to decide on Monday whether to add defender Jack Briskey to their list ahead of Tuesday’s pre-season supplemental period deadline after they lost emerging forward Will Kelly for up to two months when he suffered a fractured collarbone on Friday night against Richmond.

The Magpies already had a list spot available ahead of Friday’s match and were determining whether to add Briskey, who has impressed over the pre-season after being invited to train, or keep the spot vacant for the mid-season draft later in the year.

The former Brisbane Lions Academy player would add depth to the defence, which will be without Mark Keane early in the season as he overcomes a finger injury, and industry sources expect him to find a spot.

With little footy in ‘20 keeping multiple spots open for the mid season draft could have value. If we add Briskey we’d still have one position open and in 2019 long term injuries opened up others. I can’t remember when we didn’t suffer any LTI during a season, in any case I’d take a chance on Briskey and worry about the mid season later.

Be a Huge Shock IF we pass on him
