Based on the now yes, based on potential for the future also yes.

then Smith, Rozee, Walsh?

Yes, along with Luko

The King brothers appear to have attributes you only get from KPFs every few drafts if you're lucky. The others are more your classic "best mid" or "best mid/forward" in the draft types

Haha yep some people conveniently forget we bid on Harry Perrymann before going with Gallucci, mind you GWS were always going to match.

Just like in 2018, people would now be stoked with Hamish if North Melbourne had (stupidly) not matched the bid on Tarryn Thomas and we had him running around for us.

I have read your previous comments on Gooch being one of the most developed kids of his draft year, do you think in some ways he has been unable to cope with the physical step up against the more mature bodies in the SANFL and AFL. Easier to be confident bursting through packs of kids, but in the big leagues it is much easier to get crunched. I have always wondered with his inability to dominate at SANFL level, even some of the Crows "top ups" have pumped out more consistent numbers than he has. Gives me a bit of the Atkins vibe, in that some of his best games in the AFL have been against Gold Coast and Carlton in 2018 when they were terrible and contested pressure was low. In losses he tends to have little to no impact and disappear. Could be position related, but good players will find a way to have impact no matter how few opportunities they get.

I got howled down when at the time I suggested the suns take Ben King and Max King - brothers together = great retention prospects. Time might just prove that these 2 will have the best careers as Rankine can't get over persistent injury and Jack Lukosius has looked ok but not yet really found his feet. What I have seen of the King boys - they are going to make life really difficult for key defenders over the coming decade
It was a logical position to take

Retention is easier with 2 in the family. Maybe Gold Coast also had Number 1 blindness - when a prospect is touted as number 1 from so far out it can be seen as madness to go against that pick

I really don't know but like I said at the time I had grave doubts there was a lot of upside to come, certainly not from a physical development angle given it was patently clear he'd been preparing strength and conditioning wise much more than most kids you see playing U18's. I think it's more likely a mental/application thing going on kick up the bum Godden gave him.

Luke Edwards similarly is a bit of a concern of mine also given how physically well developed he is among the kids he's playing with currently in the U18's re his upside....I'm really keen to see him step up to State League or at least Reserves grade in coming weeks just to allay that thinking.

Injury luck a factor

Max seemingly the biggest injury risk

But GC have Rankine not play a single game yet; and now Rowell plays a few before his own serious injury

Might have also thought losing one wasn't as bad as losing two at the same time?

I'd have the King brothers in the #1 and #2 spots from the 2018 draft at this stage
What's the go on Rankine? Under contract but they mean nothing. Still a player i would be chasing if he can get his body right. Would be handy in our forward line alongside Mcadam and Stengle.

They didn’t have the #1 pick though, that was Carlton with Walsh.

I see King x 2, Smith, Luko and Rozee all being a lot better than Walsh.

Set to debut this week.

I suppose it gets down to a Dusty/Danger vs a Josh Kennedy/Buddy Franklin. I'm going with the former
Fair enough I guess, I just love great Key Forwards, I fell in love with the game watching blokes kick 10 goals every week, don't love the game nearly as much anymore due to the defensive nature of the game these days.

Gee remember there was talk GC were into Caldwell, imagine if they took him with 6, if Ben King was there at our Pick would we have taken him? We'll never know I guess but fun to think about.
