Heard from a few fairly reliable sources recently that Freo is preparing a big play for Mihocek. Heard this before the McCarthy news FYI. Seems they believe he's very gettable due to the cap squeeze at the Pies from them prioritising Moore and De Goey.

Did seem odd, but with McCarthy gone and you guys apparently considering throwing Hogan down back, it starts to make more sense. Also have been told Pies are chasing Wright and Schache, which would make sense as both would be cheaper replacements for Mihocek if Freo do make a big offer that can't be matched.

Please don't take this as me suggesting he's definitely heading out west or trying to stir sh*t or anything like that - clubs chase players all the time and 9/10 cases don't eventuate. All I've been told is Mihocek is a reasonable chance, not that it's 100% happening.

Bump

You broke it to us two months back..heard anything else??

sure.

ceiling on Hogan and pick 20 is very different.

I rather keep him and if he doe something that deserves to be sack, then do that.
Yes I think most here and even me would prefer that, but I suspect if this has any legs then the club just wants him gone and doesn't really care about what we get for him.

Not saying we should but we could do the Jack Martin move with Mihocek. Still don't like the idea of bringing in another 27yo forward given our list demographic. But if we did, I'd hope he wouldn't be too expensive given he'd be a salary dump (saving, more accurately) so the Pies can go after another player they want.

The narrative around Hogan just gets stupider by the day. Now he's reached the status of a dud that no-one wants?
I guess one way or another there's going to be some embarrassed posters on here in 12 months time - maybe this sort of lowballing of him will prove correct and he actually can't football and I'll be one of the embarrassed ones, or more likely I suspect it won't.
I actually agree with you and I want Hogan to stay and have been solid in that from the beginning. I do however doubt there would clubs lining up to take him on. Ankle issues, mental health time off and some off field issues. For these many reasons to trade him now would be silly.

We have had the extreme stupidity of Cornes saying fire sell for a useless late 3rd round pick.

I would hope strongly that the completely unfounded rumours that we would trade him out after this latest quarantine matter are not correct.

I do wonder whether this growing talk of Mihocek has any Substance and if so where that leaves Hogan. I much prefer Hogan with his last few games promising and I’m not sure having both will work.

I get the feeling that if there is some semblance of truth to the Mihocek talk, there will be some respect between the 2 clubs because of JLo’s connection & a deal will be met that keeps the 2 clubs happy.

I think for the sake of 1 deal it would be silly to burn our bridges with the Pies.

Your offer is waaayyyy higher than Collingwood's. Same dude told me about Matthew Boyd coming to your coaching panel about a month ago, and that seems to have turned out true by the looks of it, so at least there's that :)

So essentially you're getting word in real time, about who freo is looking into. If there's any others go ahead!

Word on the street is we've offered 4 years and it's close to being done. does that sound right to you?

They burnt that bridge with the Tarrant trade imo.

Yeah I hated what Carlton did with Martin last year. And I similarly hated how the Lyons to Brisbane move happened as well. Under no circumstances do I think we should do that - thought it was relevant to mention though.

If the pies play silly buggers like they did with Tarrant about a decade ago then we should definitely go that route.

More to the point as Taylor said as a rookie list player he can delist himself and we can pick him up as DFA. He has the added benefit of being Free Agent when next out of contract.

I honestly think mid second round is too high. maybe future second with future fourth coming back at best Collingwood. Surely Aish would be rated similar and his value ended up early third so fair value would be around end of second round to mid third (35-45 range).

Reality is that if what we get for Hogan pays for Miochek then it is worth doing.

And if we need to use pick 10 on Jordon Clarke and get some change back for western and walker you do it.

We can then trade back into the draft for Lane or Neale.

I do t think there would be too many upset with this scenario.
