This is Part 1

The thread is continued in part 2:

So essentially you're getting word in real time, about who freo is looking into. If there's any others go ahead!

Word on the street is we've offered 4 years and it's close to being done. does that sound right to you?
Sorry mate, have no idea about specifics :( all I've been told is it's extremely likely he's heading to you guys, something would need to seriously change to have him stay or go anywhere other than Freo, and it's good money (not absurd, but far better than the insult from the Pies).

More important than Mihocek and Boyd appointments would be your strength and conditioning staff next year. They've really held the club back despite your list being deceptively good.

Pretty exciting tbh, I watch Freo every week as most of my family are Freo supporters so I like to keep up to date. Don't often hear much about the behind the scenes, just been a few interesting ones this year and thought I should share to keep the positivity up :)

What would concern me with Mihoceck is that as a 27/28 y.o. we can't really afford an adjustment year that often happens with a trade. Also strong possibility he's a two-three season peak player and he's already used up a couple of those.

To be fair, he was drafted in his mid 20s. His body hasn't gone through the abuse of AFL level footy for more than a few years, so he could end up playing well into his 30s. While many players go downhill at 30, guys like him could last to 32/33 before taking a serious dive. All speculation, wouldn't know until he gets to that point

Which gives us a couple of years to draft and develop a forward without the pressure to produce in year 1 that comes with and early pick.

Would be interesting to see if you guys might try trade up to Logan McDonald. Looks seriously good, and could play at the top level straight away like the Kings have

Maybe, although you could've made the same argument about Podsiadly and he was basically done after 3-4 years.

Even though we should be bit players at this year's trade period, i think there will be a LOT of curve ball trade requests concerning all clubs. Just seems like everyone I know IRL has had enough of where they live and wants to get back to family because of covid. And on that note I don't think clubs will play hardball for those sorts of players

Wow. Step away for a few hours and come back to this.
a few notes,
1. Mihocek gathered steam pretty quick, apologies to those I doubted.
2. Strange that rhino put that tweet out a couple of hours after I asked Riley and Mitch to pour cold water on the rumour.. a bit of reverse psych to get an answer... Seems he wanted to be first, not necessarily right.
3. Whatever happens with Hogan, I’m backing the club in to make the right call.

Fair to say tomorrow’s update will be interesting

excellent, we have Daniels in on it as well, he's setting it up for the melts from Carlton to be even better

sadly doubt we have the currency to do so

Wish we’d stop excusing Hogan’s actions because of what he’s been through.
It’s an outright ******* insult to the average person who goes through these things daily and still has to push on.

I’m in my 20’s, I’ve battled depression, anxiety, mental illnesses I didn’t know existed. I’ve had my issues with drugs, hell... I lost my mum this year... and I still get up every day and drag myself across the line because that’s what we ******* do.

The dude works half as hard as me on a bad day and is probably on 10 times the coin all while whinging about it. fu** off.
Amen brother.
I hope the fragile little man sorts his shit out but he should try live in the average man's boots for a month..

If we go 4 talls (which is probably to tall) then he replaces Schultz or Crowden.

JL has made Hogan earn his games before too. Personally, I think Mihocek is better than Hogan and I'd be thrilled to have him.

If the rumours are true, our second round pick should get it done
Yep don't think 4 talls is workable for us. Personally I am too repulsed by the thought of trading Neale for Hogan to accept he is done yet.

Personally think Mihocek doesn’t come however looks like Taylor is on the money

Annexure D of the AFLs CBA 2017-2022 page 112

To save you time if Collingwood offer Mihocek a contract and he doesn’t accept he automatically qualifies as a delisted FA and can walk to any club as he has served more than 2 years on the rookie list.

yeah a fwd line of Tabs, Lobb, Hogan and Mihocek would be far too tall, the brief Tabs/Lobb/Hogan/Dardy experiment was too tall last year and this would only be worse. barring a surprise announcement from tabs/lobb, mihocek would surely only being coming if Hogan goes

Reality is that if what we get for Hogan pays for Miochek then it is worth doing.

And if we need to use pick 10 on Jordon Clarke and get some change back for western and walker you do it.

We can then trade back into the draft for Lane or Neale.

I do t think there would be too many upset with this scenario.

There is no way a forwardline of Lobb, Mihocek, Hogan and Tabs works and you cant paying one of them 600k+ to be sitting in the 2s

If Mihochek is actually coming, I can only imagine Hogan is out the door.
Expensive player to have on the bench , but we've done it for 2 years! What's the harm in another ?

In this fantastic game of speculation what if JLo brings Mcheck straight in and keeps Hogan as depth and continues to make him " earn his spot " as per this year ?
Talking straight out of my ass here

I have similar thoughts with JLos game plan in that perhaps he has slowed the game deliberately this year due to lack of forward quality.

is there any limit to how much shit you can make up on this site ?

If we can get Mihocek cheaply (i.e a swap of our 2021 second-rounder for Collingwood's 2021 third or fourth-rounder) it seems like a no brainer. Competition for spots will be a GOOD thing for our team.

Additionally, what's the likelihood of Tabs, Lobb and Hogan to be injury-free throughout the season? Pretty slim.
