This is Part 1

The thread is continued in part 2:

Sure but we're not getting Mihocek that cheap. Why would Collingwood just throw away even a semi-decent tall forward option who could sit on the edge of their best 22.

Is Mihocek worth our 2nd outright? And more likely is Mihoeck worth our first with change coming back?

Semi decent, edge of their best 22?! He's literally their most consistent forward and probably been their best forward for years. He'd be one of the first picked at Collingwood

Worth a second round pick? In a heartbeat. Downgrade of first round picks, nope, he's uncontracted and being offered unders, so we don't need to do that.

Yeah I was trying to put the best possible light on what heypenny was saying because even then I think his trade suggestions looked really Freo-centric, though I disagree that he is anywhere near first picked. He is best 22 but not by all that much.

So you're saying smack bang in between the two possibilities I said?

Either way imo Collingwood will ask more for Mihocek than Fremantle should give up and he is not coming to us to play for Peel so even if a trade gets done it means we've given up on someone.

I quite like Mihocek as a player but won't be sorry to see this one amount to nothing come trade time. Just would rather spend the money on bigger needs and see JLo back in a combination of Tabs/Hogan/Lobb.

Very easily best 22 and highly valued at Collingwood, list management team at the magpies is just clueless (Mason Cox, Tom Phillips as example of players who are overpaid).

I personally think our second round is bang on, for the reasons I specified before. Collingwood can ask for more, but ultimately, what chance do they have?

I'm a fan, hope we get him, but who knows if we're even targeting him. I don't not believe it, but I'll get more excited if Duffield or Daniels says it's happening.

Personally think Mihocek doesn’t come however looks like Taylor is on the money

Annexure D of the AFLs CBA 2017-2022 page 112

To save you time if Collingwood offer Mihocek a contract and he doesn’t accept he automatically qualifies as a delisted FA and can walk to any club as he has served more than 2 years on the rookie list.
He would only be a free agent if he didn’t accept an offer from Collingwood to become a third year rookie. If they legitimately offer him a two year+ deal and a primary list spot then I think he will need to be traded for.

I don't think a swap of picks is out of the realms of possibility. The Pies are caught between a rock and a hard place with their salary cap. He's out of contract and they can't be too stubborn if they know they can't offer Brody his market value. He will also be 28 before the start of next season. If we gave a future second - I would want something back in return (future fourth the most likely).

I don't feel comfortable giving away too much for a 28 year old second or third tall. We've been burnt too often in the past (Anthony, Gumby, McCarthy, Kersten etc).

If he comes cheap, yes. But Mihocek doesn’t even fit our age profile. But a cheap Tarrant move. Pass.
Hogan is worth persisting. He hasn’t done that badly wrong. Jesus, some immature stuff but hardly damage against others and property. Personal mental stupidity. Clearly anxiety related in not about to handle AFL life in the bubble.
Go after Wright from Gold Coast, Narkle and at the very worst, Mihocek. Cheap picks however.

Poor little Jesse.
The world is fn hard when you are on half a million bucks a year & you get an extended holiday for not turning up for training
Seriously.
The guy is becoming a douche. And as the lawyer squeezed in. Jessie is relatively young.
He is not a freaking kid anymore.
Yes his dad passed away & he had a nut cut off..
So have a lot of people.
Move the campaigner on if he does not want to buy in.
There is a lot of good kids in that team & Jesse is at the age where ho should be leading not dragging the te@m.

I honestly don't think I could respect a post less than this.

Those saying that Mihocek doesn’t fit our age profile ...
why not?

Lobb Feb 1993
Mihocek Feb 1993
Hamling April 1993
Taberner June 1993
Hogan Feb 1995
Pearce June 1995

Ive not mentioned Cox, Darcy whom are also very young.
Yeh I don't get the age thing either
Look at the way he is playing and tell me he doesn't have at least 2 good years in him .
Then once we've won the flag he/ we can rest on our laurels and train up the young ones

I need some of what you guys are smoking, hook a brother up?

Literally in the section called trol(o)ling in our rumour tracker...
Hook, line, and sinker

He doesn’t need to accept the offer. He has the right to accept whatever from whomever he wants.

It’s different to a primary list spot where not re-signing he would need to go into the preseason draft.

Think of a player at the conclusion of a second or third year on a rookie list as casual employee. They can pack their bags at the end of their shift and go somewhere else without a notice period.

AFLPA affords the rookie listed players some extra perks like that because they lose out on way more the other direction.

Generally speaking, don't put players on your rookie list that you aren't comfortable losing. Best twenty two players living on the rookie list doesn't happen for long, especially if you're also not paying their market value.

Mason Cox has caused their latest issue by the way, the Pies paid him quite a bit to join them over other clubs offers as a category B rookie, this meant his entire salary was excluded from the cap. When he had been there for three years he was required to either be delisted or upgraded to the senior list, but he didn't want to take a pay cut.

Is that what it is? 😮
Cripps is in my plans for next season, but I also plan to own the Dockers after winning 40 million tomorrow and making a series of astute investments that add a zero to my nest egg.

So far, everything is going exactly to plan

Seems that they can't afford to keep him but if they offer a contract, even a stupidly low one, they can trade him i.e. not lose him for nothing.
