Sam Durdin was a high draft pick but has shown nothing to prove he could play at the level... Marley Williams is interesting I always thought he could play and is certainly an upgrade on Goddard, Macredie

Very surprised that they're cutting Ahern.

Had some really good performances for them a few years back after he came back from the knee injury. Including a 37 disposal game!

Missed most of last year, but came back in for 5 games late in the year and was pretty solid.

Only half a dozen games this year and not much to show for it.

Are they playing him out of position, or has he just not come on?
Ahern been pushed to a back flanker role where he's an midfielder. But hasn't ever really put a good game together. Can find it but not really AFL quality. Injuries haven't helped him, mind you.

Williams is quite average and a turnover King we don’t need any of that. Pittard also not a good enough standard.
If we were going to be as ruthless, you could cut pretty deep (not sure of contract status of all)
Out: Lang, Macreadie, Moore, B. Silvagni, Polson, Goddard, O’Dwyer. Add Simpson and Kreuzer retirements. Turnover of 9 before any trades. I gather as many as four (U/R/D) FA to come in and then 3 or 4 in the draft again.
Expect Kennedy, Cuningham to have a place in rotation. Looks like Betts will go around again. Sound about right ?

I kind of hope we don't take any of those players. I feel we are past the gap filling stage now. If anyone maybe Pittard or Wood are deserving of getting to another list but not us.
Agree. Some on here seem to be the type that if they see something in the rubbish skip then they believe they can take it in, clean it up and restore it back to life.

If you are in the North Melbourne rubbish skip there is probably a good reason.

I don't see much there to interest us.

Jacobs is quality but let go for a reason. Daw is 30, and would be playing the same utility role as Levi. Ahern is stick behind Cunnington and Anderson so may get a crack elsewhere, we already have Kennedy filling the questionable inside mid role. Durdin wouldn't raise an eyebrow but for the relatively high pick he cost. Pittard and McMillan is up there with Mullet and O'Shea in terms of potential ROI

Wood is the one that surprises. I know he hasn't come on as hoped, but put up solid numbers last year, and North are already threadbare for KPFs with question marks on Brown too.

On SPS, what do you think it will take to get his body right and do you realistically think he can peak at?
He still looks and plays slim, not much fat, but not much muscle. Seems to not have confidence to or can't (?) kick it further than 35m?
Weak quads/hamstrings?
Weak hamstrings, so needs some work to see if the scar tissue can be broken up a bit, while building up his sprint work on his first few steps.

Ahern, Durdin, Pittard, Williams, Wood among 11 delisted at North. Some of these guys will be great DFA pickups as role players for strong teams.

Just saw this. Would've thought a few of those were stiff. They do play for North so not sure any offer an upgrade on what we have now. But some of them have either been good in the past for them or had plenty of hype.

Couldn't say if there's any that I'd take straight off the bat. I reckon they'll be heappps from other sides that we will though.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's only 20-30 kids taken at the draft and the rest is made of my club swaps.
Wouldn't mind us throwing Lachie Hosie or Tom Murphy a lifeline tbh.

And no, I cannot see us doing a North like cull. Reckon Bam Bam Kennedy is in strife unfortunately
I'd be looking into Ahern, Durdin and Murphy. Daw, Williams, Pittard and Wood are also interesting senior depth options depending on what happens with names like Casboult and Newman.

Hosie and Crocker are wastes of time unfortunately: Hosie would be great if he could accelerate at all, while Crocker was too speculative a pick.

Interesting how much North have cut into their defensive depth.

Notable that Kyron Hayden and Jed Anderson are also out of contract with North, so they would be available with a little coaxing.

Hayden is a bit of a Yeo clone, while Anderson ins a running machine who can dispose. Would love both.

wasnt delisted
I mean he was, but he was the one who delisted himself.

No North guys, but if there was one I'd have a little look at, it would be Williams.
Durdin is a poor version of Macreadie. Stick with Macreadie.
Ahern looks lost. Can play but has has the life taken out of him.
Daw? Come on.....for what?
Wood? Jaksch junior.

No players that haven't been good but we think we can make them something they weren't elsewhere....

Marley Williams and Jasper Pittard let go by the Kangas. I'd say we should look into one of their services. My preference would be Williams; he can take a small forward, has a bit toughness, has a crack and a tidy kick. Could do a lot worse. Surprising delisting.

Nope we have moved past list cloggers

We have enough average players on our list to
do what they were doing at Norf

Marley Williams was one part of arguably the worst half-back line I have ever seen .... it would blow my mind if his name was even mentioned among our recruiting team ... Some good strong calls by NM today, imo.

Absolutely no way we are cutting all of our key position depth in one off season. Absurd.

Used to like Williams but the game has passed him by this year, he’s no longer AFL standard.

Williams is a ticking time bomb off the field. He’s probably the last guy we want being constantly around our more impressionable kids.

That was why Collingwood were more than happy to ditch him for pick 105.

He’d suit us to a tee with the tough small defender role, but buyer beware.

You're being over the top here with Durdin, Daw and Wood.

Daw would probably fail a medical, but if remotely fit is an athletic KPD we could probably sign via the supplementary period if we need him. Durdin might be one to look at for the other end of the ground, and Wood is an interesting 3rd forward under the right circumstances, but unlikely.

I'm more interested in Ahern and Murphy anyway, as well as if we could shake Hayden and Anderson from North.

What position does Rory Atkins play...any good?
AA small defender.

EDIT: was never AA, my bad. But did a lot of the link work up the ground, great gut runner.
