Shattering news, we will live to regret it if we lose JSOS just as we will live to regret the removal of his father, and at a time when we need Carlton people around the club, disappointing to say the least. 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Don't think trading away Josh Kennedy hurted the Hawks or their culture at all really. I like Jack too bit we can't be sentimental about list management issues.

Mostly agree. I'm just thinking that it's Ed or Graham - not Ed and Graham in best 22. Graham is young - I think he has the capacity to lift his possession numbers.

Cycling Martin and Williams through stoppages makes us a lot more interesting. The 'mix' already looks a lot better with Williams addition.
I agree. I will say, though, that raising one's possession count by 2-3 is a believable thing over the space of a year or two; raising it by 5-7 is wishful thinking. Over his career, Graham has averaged 15.1 disposals a game. It's not enough for a full time mid.

In his defence - he's spent a fair bit of time at half-forward. Really just saying that I can see why the club might be interested.

Will be a shame to see JSOS go if it happens - smart player that we haven't seen the best of yet by a long way imo, particularly if he can build his tank a bit and become a true rotating forward/mid.

Will mean the closest thing to a F/S on the list will be Williams and Williamson. :drunk::drunk:

Valid takes,
From my perspective: Richmond aren't a team that racks up a ton of the ball - Prestia & Dusty average 21 & 20 possessions a game respectively, both of whom would, at a guess, attend more stoppages than Graham.
The question I have is whether Graham were playing for a high possession side like the Dogs, would his numbers elevate accordingly or is he a player that floats in & out of games?

Very sad if he goes.

I wish we had have given him more of a chance around the ball - great hands in close and good decision maker - would love to know from coaches/selectors why he didn't get more of a chance in the middle. I know he wasn't super quick but he was prepared to work bloody hard and rarely butchered it.

Can we all agree to not discuss him in any trade scenarios with the dopers for Saad .... a Silvagni in Red and Black would really top 2020 off.

That's my biggest fear - that he'll get picked up by another club and slapped in the middle and do really well. He'll need to build his tank but he's shown potential there imo, even at AFL level for a half here and there.

If we can disagree, then I'm sure the selection committee can too. I still rate all three of those players mentioned, I just think that if you go like for like you can replace:
SPS with Saad
Plowman with Marchbank

Marchbank should be in the team, alongside Plow. You think Marchy can stand Cameron, Papley, Walters?
Samo should be up the field, certainly not out of the team.

I'll put this forward and piss people off; I wouldn't be surprised to see SPS traded.

If he won't be playing back, is given limited opportunity as a midfielder and not seen as a forward type we need - What do we do?

I just feel that if clubs come knocking, we'd leave the door open. Just seems right to me.

With further contract announcements made today there are still a number of players who I have as being OOC.

Kennedy - 50/50
Betts - I am a yes, others are a no, seems a formality
Macreadie - Not fussed either way
Polson - Not fussed either way
Williamson - Must sign
Newnes - This won't be correct as he wouldn't have come across on a 1 year deal, but I don't have anything official suggesting otherwise.
Phillips - 50/50, I would like to give him another year
Setterfield - Must sign
Owies - Not fussed either way
Moore - Not fussed either way

So 2 more priority signings as far as I can see. Wonder what the hold up is.

Never trust Aphrodite :p

In all seriousness though, it makes sense. I just don't recall anything official.

He should be playing half forward/mid. The player kicking inside 50.
A much better option than Gibbons.

Speed + good foot skills. Two things we lack. Acquiring players that fill those deficiencies (and focusing our pre-season on the skills side of things) will significantly improve our 2021 prospects.
Agree. But our blokes desperately need to hit the weights this off season too - we need more physical presence around the contest. Good post amigo.

I don't know if there's any way to know that. We know for a fact that Prestia and Cotchin are ball magnets; from 2013-2016 at the Suns, Prestia averaged 25.4, 27.1, 27.1, and 25.9 disposals over that 4 year patch, and Cotchin has averaged more than 24 disposals across 6 seasons (an arbitrary number, I'll grant you; 4 years over 25 disposals). You're right that they're simply not a high possession side, but 15 disposals a game might buff up to 18-21 a game under a more high possession regime, and (in my opinion) I do not think that's enough for us purely by itself.
In his defence - he's spent a fair bit of time at half-forward. Really just saying that I can see why the club might be interested.
So am I, but as a supplement to someone else.

We need more everything, so he'd be great. But getting the ball and disposing it to advantage is harder than tackling is (although, given how shitty our tackling is as a team, maybe I should amend that some) we need an accumulator to compensate.

From the outside looking in, does the club seem to be not aligned with list management / recruiting decisions since last year?

I hope I’m wrong and understand this year will bring some difficult decisions, just hope they’re all on the same page at Ikon Park

Think it'd be dumb, but everyone's gettable for the right price.
