That to me is bizarre.

But ok cool, I'm done trying to understand.

It's alright, george orwell.

But in a nutshell, you can never escape the cycle of history in that everything that will happen has already been written..........provide you have the vision to take notice. Most of human beings are more or less blind but as an amateur history enthuasiast, our path to ultimate success is not that difficult.........provide we have strong enough will to make the hardest of decisions.

Archer, Rawling have demonstrated ruthlessness that is not generally associated with north melbourne off-field. Progress demand sacrifice, you can't get the soul stone without killing loved ones so to speak. Our club management have had many casualties be it players, staffs and coaches. Life goes on. Real leaders will emerge and rise to the occasion.

We have taken the first step towards controlling our past in that historically, north has been unable or unwilling to make difficult decision. Now we are take a scythe and cutting right across the whole club. The club has been way too comfortable for players and staffs alike. The club is not there to make players comfortable, the club is there to win games. Evidenlty the players cannot win us games, they need to go. The staffs are not helping, they need to go. Shaw is needed to be the fall guy to get through a difficult 12 months and fall away only for us to bring in someone who will really lead the team somewhere.

Everyone was in the hub: colleagues, coaches, families, other teams. They held the exit meetings while still there. Hester talked about how hard it must have been for some blokes to get the news their career was done and then have to make their way from the meeting to their rooms or wherever else while it was still raw. A walk of shame almost, past all these other people deeply involved in the team and industry you just essentially got sacked from. Throw in then having to stay at the hub for another 2 days(iirc) and it wouldn't have been a particularly happy time.

It's not like it was a literal walk of shame or a forced march past everyone, it's just that the circumstances were far from ideal for the delistees (and their families up on the hub with them).
I'm not sure how else they could have done it.

It sounds to me she was just saying she felt sorry for them not necessarily bagging anyone about how it was done

What, after he shafted GWS huge offer to chase a flag at the Pies?

It would be poor to do it again.
He's just reading from Nathans playbook 🙃

Ok so this is from someone close to the action... Melbourne’s 1st choice is Mihocek he is on approx $300k and the dees think he is a good fit at a great price.
Brown is their second option put major concerns over his knee .. word is that Brown’s knee is “shot” hence we are happy to let him go.

Hardly rocket science! My first choice would be mio on 300k than brown on 850k! Think mio is looking for double that which is fair enough too

The thing that needs to be pointed out here is that Hester should believe in any way that she is "significant" to AFL football, simply because she married a footballer.

She is not.

If Hester doesn't like some aspects of AFL football, then I suggest her & her kind cease appropriating it as their own personal soap box (which in truth is designed to raise their own social status), and instead find something to do in life that is actually relative to their beliefs and that they facilitated by their own efforts.

I haven't listened to Hester Brown's podcast but there aren't many subtle ways to sack 11 people in a contained geographical environment without hurting someone's sensitivities.

If you're retrenched in an office or a factory you'll usually have to walk back past all your colleagues on the way out. There were families also present in this instance but it's not a unique situation.

I would be shocked if one of those 11 were shocked.

Bloody hell, you would think we were the first club to delist players let alone on the back of the lowest finish in the club's history

"Too many players, too many good players, have been let go"

All of those good players that lead us to a 17th place finish. FFS.

Whoa, just hold up there pardner!

You DON'T think a radical shift in tactics had significant impact on this?

I just cant believe Mihocek is even being compared to brown at all. If he played for gold coast no one would even know his name!

Totally disagree... he is a solid, committed reliable consistent footballer. Can lead or take strong marks or at least contests to bring to ground. He definitely isn't the number 1 but a great foil for a number one.... I still remember the first time I took note of him was at the g when he kicked at least 3 on Scott Thompson couple of years back

You just proved my point, he's not a number 1 he is a bloody solid foil. Brown is a genuine number 1!
