It would be Brown for Stephenson and a second round pick which would be not great but not terrible, considering no one including North wanted Ben next year except Melbourne.

Not every team needed a leading forward.

Not every team had the means to trade for him if they needed a leading forward.

There are probably more combinations of the above, time will tell if it was a masterful stroke or disaster.

He averages 1.77 goals per game at the Dome vs 2.1 goals per game at the MCG.

2) "opening offer"

It basically demands Collingwood to publicly go harder.

Not that big of a deal IMO. Collingwood source, I would assume, but the problem for them is that the clock is ticking and they need to lessen their cap burden. Trying to make a media spectacle of it simply wont work at this stage in the game.

The Kangaroos have offered a second-round selection, currently pick 28, for Stephenson, who sources say has been offered a five-year contract to join Arden St.

Collingwood would like more for Stephenson, who was taken at pick five in the 2017 draft and won the Rising Star award that year.

It's a yes or no from them. No other clubs involved, no further negotiation (please)

We can mark down McClure as one of the Collingwood shills.

It's not that I reckon an 11 for 16 swap for Stephenson is massive overs, but when you weigh up the contract & the Higgins/Brown trades, then it's time we had a win.
