If you’re not holding the cup, you might as well be holding the draft aces.

Any more Stephenson types we can prise from salary cap challenged clubs for a song?
You only get 1 Alan Bond in your life.
Apparently I was wrong.
You my friend were 100% spot on.

Ironic that all these trade ideas are considered innovative but we've been suggesting them on trade forums for years.
Salary dumps are a real thing and should become normal.

COVID has certainly opened the door for it to become more common.

Covid has been good to us as a club.
Salary cap drops effecting everyone but us because we are ordinary.
Edwards not playing 2020 and slipping to the mid season draft.
Even our pick 20 has improved as clubs will be selecting un seen types ahead of us.
The only downside I can see is list numbers.
We could use a few extra places to develop in.

David King has had a good night.

Not sure if its covid as much as good management vs opposition poor management.
Mcpherson obviously getting paid a lot and GC are at a point where they'll have to pay a lot of their stars good money to stay.
Good culture and wins makes them cheaper.
All AFL salaries have been scaled down so its not like everyones getting paid their original amount but the cap has shrunk.

I think COVID has played a big part. No chance Stevo is available last year if not for the cap changes.

I think the fact we have gone from an expected increase in cap to a reduction has certainly change the attitudes to the thought of fire-sales within the industry.

19 and some bloke I've never heard of for a future third?

Sign me up.
Mcpherson isnt a bad player.
Had some decent stats in 2019/2020.
Plays a small forward role but from the highlights I've seen he seems to set up players vs kicking goals himself.
Maybe that was just the dynamic of the side with rankine and others in the same area on field.
Could easily see him playing a Jamie Elliot/ Cameron role if he's kick enough.
Big body and likes to tackle too.
