Just on the whole #1 Pick debate - I think clubs drafting across the board has improved significantly over the last decade, particularly the last 5 years.

2010 - David Swallow - Good Player & Captain, Injury Issues
2011 - Jon Patton - Flop, Injury/Mental Health Issues
2012 - Lachie Whitfield - Big Tick, Gun
2013 - Tom Boyd - Flop, Injury/Mental Health Issues
2014 - Paddy McCartin - Flop, Injury Issues

2015 - Jacob Weitering - Big Tick, Gun
2016 - Andy McGrath - Big Tick, Gun

2017 - Cameron Rayner - TBC, Injury Issues
2018 - Sam Walsh - Big Tick, Gun
2019 - Matt Rowell - Big Tick, Gun

Don't take KPF's with Pick 1. Take midfielders.

As long as it isn't this year.
As long as it isn't this year.
Sorry to intrude. I'm all for a lottery or similar to cut out the whole losing for benefits mindset. It might just be us supporters that fall into that trap but its not a good way to spend your year hoping the team doesn't win as many games as it possibly can. I've thought a good way to rid the comp of this issue would be after round 17 to have the bottom 5 teams play each other and the top of that pool take the honours of pick one in the draft. Would generate a lot of interest from cellar dweller supporters like the Hawks and Kangas... Anyways, I think you'll get Horne and be happy for years to come...He looks a special talent.

Throughout the history of pick 1s (40 pick 1s btw) only 3 have won flags, they are:

- Luke Hodge (Hawthorn didn't even finish last in 2001)
- Tom Boyd (Won his flag at the dogs who never finished last in recent times)
- Des Headland (Brisbane actually finished last the year they picked him up)

So that means there has only been 1 pick 1 who was drafted at a club that finished at a club that finished last and stayed at the original club to win a flag

So quit this 'wanting to lose' mentality on this board.
i don't want us to lose, i just don't see us being a chance of winning most of the remaining games, because of the form so far. If that means pick 1, cool, Horne looks the goods. If we DO start winning, then that's good to cause that means there is significant imrovement and we probably will still get a top 3 to 5 pick.

So, seems alright.

Banfield from Eagles? 1992/94 Draft?

Edit: 1992

Sounds good. We can start next year.

if we don’t win another game it’s easily priority pick 2
Get your hand off it wanky mcwankyface!

There's no way we're getting a priority pick 2.

We're no certainty to get one at all and if we do it is more likely to be end of the first round.

I wouldn't lobby too hard. You guys will get pick 1 next year.

Middle of first round priority would be the most likely option
Past History of the Priority Pick is clubs get them before the draft it defeats the purpose of getting a priority at 19 or 20 pick.
Personally I don’t want it as I don’t want this club plead for one like others have in the past.
I rather keep drafting kids and come Round 1 in 2022 I’m hoping to see Edwards maybe Ham and Horne in that side as long as Atley and Turner are NOT there in the side or on the list.

I wouldn’t say easily. About 20% chance

My original point was that finishing last and getting pick 1 usually isn't the best of results...
All good, just another useless bit of info I remembered :p
We just make Nick pick 1 and Coll match and pick up Horne with pick 2, most of those who failed went to teams with multiple pick 1s rather than just one

I don't dispute the conclusion, but not sure Tom Boyd was a complete flop; he carried the Bulldogs on his back in the last qtr to win that flag in 2016

Was also good in the prelim the week before. Would we trade our Ryan Griffen equivalent (we don't really have one right now) for say one of the King brothers if we knew we'd only get two years out of him but would include a flag?

I’d drive him to the new club myself.

WAFL colts: Jye Amiss, Kade Dittmar, Max Chipper, Kobe McMillan, Matt Johnson and more impress in round nine

Kade Dittmar (East Perth)
The bid-bodied East Perth midfielder responded to a couple of lean weeks by returning to his brilliant best.
Dittmar found a lot of the footy but his defensive pressure was even more important, especially in the opening term when he laid a whopping seven tackles.

His movement around the ground and work rate was terrific, even drifting forward for a third-quarter goal to go with 23 disposals and 13 tackles in a well-rounded display.
Fellow Royals mid James Tunstill also continued his prolific form.

Jye Amiss (East Perth)
For a kid with ‘miss’ in his surname, he doesn’t do a lot of it.
In a low-scoring affair, Amiss kicked the first two goals of the match in slippery conditions with his supreme body work getting him some good looks in front of the sticks.
He ended up with five majors to take his season tally to a competition-high 25.
It equalled his best haul of the year of 5.2 against Subiaco in the opening round.

Max Chipper (Swan Districts)

For the fourth week in a row, Max Chipper had a 30-plus possession haul to his name.
The hard-running Swan Districts midfielder is one of the form players of the WAFL colts competition, getting the job done week in, week out for the ladder leaders.
Chipper had a game-high 35 to go with eight marks and a goal after hauls of 34, 38 and 33 in his previous three matches.

Kobe McMillan (East Fremantle)
The East Fremantle ruck had a day out in his return from a concussion.
Splitting his time between the ruck and attack, McMillan booted a game-high four majors and was terrific around the ground with 23 possessions, nine marks, 15 hit-outs and seven inside 50s as the Sharks knocked off arch-rivals South Fremantle.

Luke Reilly (West Perth)
Reilly was West Perth’s best in a losing cause, overcoming a tag to have an impact in the midfield.

It ended up being a disappointing result for the Falcons but Reilly at least held up his end of the bargain.
He capped off his 19-disposal, six-tackle day with a nice final-quarter goal.

Matt Johnson (Subiaco)
The Subiaco colts premiership midfielder had arguably his best game of the season as his side easily accounted for cellar dwellers Perth on Saturday.
The first-round draft prospect came into the season with a quad issue and also spent time in the seniors but finally looks to have found his groove.
Johnson had 30 possessions, seven inside 50s and six tackles in a classy performance in the midfield
