I don't think you've seen enough of Pedlar when he's up and going and fully fit, early in the season in 2020 he showed he's got plenty of athleticism in the few games he played for the Bays and he was a standout in that regard in one of the PAC streams I watched, he's actually as good aerially as Horne IMO and will hit the scoreboard any time he gets forward. No I love Pedlar , don’t think he’s what I’m thinking of though , more someone with extra special skill ( like an Eddie Betts ) or Athelticism like a Horne
very happy with Pedlar if he can work on his endurance to be a very good midfielder like a Ben Cunnington with a touch more zip
Beat me too it - I was thinking if we had Horne (almost zero chance of that ), have him Shoenberg, Pedlar and Berry in the guts with Laird and you have some real ball winning, tackling pressure and power out of a stoppage AND a goal threat from midfield..like Big Kev would have said - I'm excited. But we would not get Horne so need to look for that next cab off the rank tall power mid with good disposalYou're set to be really surprised when Pedlar gets up to speed then...
I wouldn't do that .....but struggling to see his weaponsAvgs 23 disposals in SANFL and got 17, 11, 7 possies in 3 AFL games played. Definitely not putting a line through him after 1 season where he played most the season in reserves and led the team in touches.
Got a good feeling Hately will turn good, he just needs to settle in and be consistent. He's 21.
Blayne - passIF we Draft Finn McGuinness would you still chase Stephens ?
What's your thoughts currently on our NGA's ?
Callaghan WWIF we Draft Finn McGuinness would you still chase Stephens ?

He will need it to surviveI wouldn't do that .....but struggling to see his weapons
Could have said the same about Keayes ....except his fierce desire to play AFL ....has Hately that same fierce desire ?
Didn't Hately sign a 3 year Contract ?He will need it to survive
I think he might surprise a few next year if he has a good pre season , if not next year he’s in big strife
Hahaha yep wasn’t sure who he was talking aboutCallaghan WW
Finn Maginnes plays for the Hawks
Yep I think but if he doesn’t play well next year after a good pre season then he doesn’t look likelyDidn't Hately sign a 3 year Contract ?
You're pretty tough on him. I'd be wrapped to find a Ben Cunnington somewhere from our draft recruits. No I love Pedlar , don’t think he’s what I’m thinking of though , more someone with extra special skill ( like an Eddie Betts ) or Athelticism like a Horne

Yep, Pedlar the best of our current Midfield CropYou're set to be really surprised when Pedlar gets up to speed then...

Of the stuff I've seen of Stephens at AFL level this year I have to agree. It's not as elite as I seem to remember it beingKeep an eye on it bicks , it’s definitely not elite like a Gulden or Campbell , I think it’s ok but not amazing
I'd take Schoenberg over Pedlar at same age.Pedlar's probably got some of the biggest upside of our current midfield crop, particularly with his ability to go forward. He's still a decent ways off it, but get him conditioned and we have a player on our hands
I'd like to see some of that endurance come ASAP though, need to start giving him consistent AFL minutes soon if he's to grow into his high potential
Both have different defining traits. Pedlar probably has more X-Factor, such as his forward craft and overhead marking, whilst also having a bit of zip and powerI'd take Schoenberg over Pedlar at same age.
Stephens VFL form this season has been very good averaging 28.4 disposals with 4 games well over 30, and it's a way stronger competition he's playing in now than the NEAFL which he would have played in last year.
This is so true .....Will Gould another that's done SFA in two years .....would we chase Gould if he were available now, not likely
The thing that strikes me most about the failures above, is that they were nearly all predominantly outside players .....and their competive instincts were limited
Jack Steele has tackled his way to become a very good player, and has now added layers to his game
And I'll respectfully disagree with your summary of Stephens, he doesn't shirk a contest when it's his turn to go and I've seen enough of his U18's, SANFL League/Reserves and VFL to form my own opinion.Yes. But it's VFL form. Nobody's out there offering Lentini a 400k AFL deal off 35 VFL touches a week.
Step up is huge and he's looked at sea, even when in a preferred position, all year. Stephens' role is one that's a bit redundant by the new rules anyway. Wings can't really just be wide receivers anymore, they've got to hold their shape as a defensive minded player and avoid being sucked in + have the ability to go when it's their turn. It's why traditional wingers #s are down lots this year (and blokes like Amon are succeeding because he's got the competitiveness to crack in). And lots of traditional wings are finding their way to half back, which is a bit more of a traditional wing role now.
Yep. Competitiveness is stupidly important in kids. Need outside mids who have an appetite for the contest. Not sure Stephens has shown that yet.
An athletic key defender with major “wow” factor is continuing to excite AFL recruiters and is fast shaping as a first-round pick in this year’s national draft.
Greater Western Victoria Rebels backman Joshua Gibcus stands 198cm tall but also possesses a giant leap which allows him to pick off almost any ball that comes his way in the NAB League.
A member of both the NAB AFL Academy and the Vic Country squad, Gibcus recorded the equal-third best running vertical jump during pre-season testing (95cm) and the equal-sixth highest standing vertical jump (75cm).
“He’s hugely talented, Josh, with a massive vertical leap,” GWV Rebels coach David Loader said.
“He’s a hell of an athlete. He does some stuff during a game where you just go, ‘Wow, that’s AFL quality’.
“He’s a bit of an excitement machine. He’ll come out and stand on someone’s head and take a mark and you’ll just think, ‘Jeepers, this guy’s got some real power tricks in his bag’. “We’re really looking forward to hopefully seeing some fine weather and watching his aerial work come into play. It probably hasn’t helped him that we’ve played in the wet so much, but if we can get a nice day with some decent weather he’s going to take some big marks and show what he’s really capable of.” Other players to watch for the Rebels include AFL Academy member Ben Hobbs and Vic Country squad members Sam Breuer, Jamieson Ballantyne, Charlie Molan, Hamish Sinnott, Josh Rentsch, Sam Butlerand Kai Lohmann.PLAYERCARDSTARTMultiple players found. Well he'd potentially be an upgrade on both the boys holding down the KPD duties currently, and don't forget I was a big wrap for Jordy long before we drafted him. Gibcus has real X factor/athleticism that Jordy and Nick just don't have. I recently watched one of his school games for St. Pats on a lousy day weather wise where he played ruck not his usual CHB and he was outstanding leaping over everyone.feenix67 Drugs Are Bad Mackay?
