Wait don’t I get GF guarantee as platinum? Or was that just last year?

The GF 'guarantee' is under the premise we get our standard allocation at a packed MCG. Last year the club scrambled to cover their asses as the guarantee sell was well over what any COVID allocation we may have been given for a GABBA GF. A full AO/Optus might be different but we either wont be able to get across due to quarantine restrictions in WA or Marshall will continue his exercise in squibness and we will have a GF of 25k people. Either way your platinum GF guarantee is worthless, first in best dressed again.

In a normal, COVID-free season, Platinum members get a GF guarantee.

Last year, the per club allocation was 8,100 tickets. Enough to cover 1870 and BD, but not enough to also cover Platinum. The club put BD and Platinum in the same priority group, which meant neither BD members not Platinum members were officially guaranteed a ticket to last year's GF if we'd made it.

Your guarantee this year, if we reach the GF, will be subject to border restrictions and stadium capacity, like last year.

Ive been told by someone who missed out but I am not 100% sure how accurate it is that if you got tickets for this match then your will be priority 2 for our next finals match. Any truth to this anyone know?

No tickets available after 5pm window opened for general admin.

Saying like 90 minutes ago if any are available will be released at 11am Thursday.

Sounds like BS. the AFL control ticketing and they wont do that.

Still dumbfounded that only 15,000 tickets are available - there's being cautious, and then there's stupidity.
While you sit in the lap of a stranger.

Who organises the seating arrangements? AFL, Ticketek or SMA? Or SA Health?

Nah, the club cheerfully reneged on that for BD and Plat last year, even though their allocation would have covered all 1870, all BD, and some Plat.

Normally the 2 competing clubs get 17,000 tickets each ie 34k out of 100k. Last year it was 54% ie 8,100k x 2 = 16,200 of 30,000.

The club sells about 15,000 GF guarantee memberships and a couple of categories with priorities. I put up in this post last year, the club's priority groups issued a few days before the PF, given the priorities were adjusted because of the 100% pledgers.

I literally pay good money for my platinum seats yet don’t have a higher priority than some bronze pleb to grab that seat for finals?

What a system.
On this. Why doesn’t priority work like this for finals? Why shouldn’t I have the option to purchase my seat for a finals match before anyone else if I pay for that seat for the whole season?

Literally the more I think about how much of a farce this is, the more I realise it always is during the finals.

I get it’ll be because “you need to give tickets to opposition fans”, well no, how about your scrub team finishes higher on the ladder.

Wouldn't surprise if they said all those who got tickets this time go to priority 2 for semi or prelim to let those go who missed out.
The AFL control ticketing. They get lobbied by the club, they rarely listen. Why would the AFL give a shit about those who missed out, when they didn't give a shit about member priorities the club wanted to separate them today??

Reading though this thread my heart goes out to all the members who missed out on a ticket. The ticketek system is a complete shambles at the best of time.

I got extremely lucky this time around

I clicked the button on the email at 1:50pm. I did it on 3 browsers on my laptop and on the ticketek app on my phone

I got through on the app at 2:02pm, selected bay 334 and was given a ticket in 104 Row J which even though was nowhere near the bay i selected, i happily took it and its in a pretty decent spot. Paid and Processed and received a confirmation email by 2:04pm

In the rush to secure a ticket i didnt close the other windows straight away, and at 2:04pm one of my browser windows was in and the other 2 were still in the queue. At this point i closed all 3 browser windows

Given the amount of issues alot of people had trying to get any tickets, i count myself very lucky.

And yes, **** Marshall and Spurrier. No covid here yet restrict the **** out of us.

It's completely putting me off this finals series to be honest. Not having a decent crowd there won't help our chances. Just feels like another Mickey mouse comp/ 2020 year
Why are you so obsessed about crowd numbers and how much noise they make? Where does that come from? Is that a Melbourne - we're the sporting capital of the world thing?

Yes. I replied last year.

Amalgamating BD and Plat was a bad idea. Their allocation meant Platinum members were always going to get screwed, but there was no reason, given the numbers, to also disenfranchise BD members.

And yes, fu** Marshall and Spurrier. No covid here yet restrict the fu** out of us.

Oh FFS, keep the Todd bashing to the Todd Marshall thread, its not like hes got anything to do with the COVID restrictions ....

:D:port:

If we ever do make a Grand Final (despite the promises) good luck trying to buy a ticket !

Can’t get one to a qualifying final at home. Not a chance anywhere else. I’ve given up on the whole finals series. Another $1000 donation to the club to go to about 4 home and away games.

I wouldn't quite go that far - we might be lucky to make it this far next year, so even though I won't be there in the flesh, I'll be watching every spine tingling minute on the TV. We've got this!!!!
