AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
I think your point about playing styles of Amiss and Treacy is relevant and should be a factor in our draft. I don't know the players well enough to agree or disagree about those two, but for me JVR being a multi positional player is a big tick. We'd have to find a pick in the 15-20 region which I didn't specify. Plenty of options to achieve that this year which have already been discussed.
Injuries, lack of opportunities & hopefully a growing maturity may see him prosper at home.I was/wasn't/was happy at the thought of this trade. Hope he just needs a new environment and a younger list with the promise of opportunity.
Assume you meant 40 - yes.So with Benning, if he gets to 49 we can basically just sit and wait until he’s called out and then match with our next pick which is 81 or hold and let him float through to the Cat B section is that right? And same with Motlop?

Pretty hilarious seeing as when they traded out Hogan to us, Dees fans were all yabbing on about how Wiederman was as good as Hogan anyway and a perfectly good replacement. If we got him for for a 3rd round pick, and he kicks 30 goals for us next year, does that mean we've 'won' the Hogan trade??Ive heard we are right into Wiederman...not sure how i feel about it.
In that scenario, simplify it and either 43 or F3 (which should be mid 40's) for Clark. Throw the F2 out of the equation. I don't care if he is contracted, we shouldn't be paying that for someone who can't get a game while spuds like Holmes are favoured.
Fogarty traded for 41.
Butler traded for 56.
Crozier traded for 40.
Hogan traded for 54.
Hannan traded for 53/54.
I want him at Freo, but at the same time will be annoyed if we pay too much for him. You don't give the bakery $10 for a sausage roll just because you are hungry.
if we are interested in Benning then yes otherwise we risk losing one of those picks we acquire between 40-81.Yes 40, fat fingers strike again.
So basically any trade we do for picks need to be for picks up to 39
Yup, I recall that too about Weideman. I'd be ok with him coming across for cheap, as long as it doesn't prevent us taking of the WA boysPretty hilarious seeing as when they traded out Hogan to us, Dees fans were all yabbing on about how Wiederman was as good as Hogan anyway and a perfectly good replacement. Quite like this for us.if we are interested in Benning then yes otherwise we risk losing one of those picks we acquire between 40-81.
There's a potential loop hole where we can trade that next pick away into the future when Benning is bid on.if we are interested in Benning then yes otherwise we risk losing one of those picks we acquire between 40-81.
I’d rather not play funny buggers. There's a potential loop hole where we can trade that next pick away into the future when Benning is bid on.
Let's say our draft hand is: #52, #78, #120
Benning bid on at #49 and it would cost us pick #52 but we say to Brisbane that we will trade them #52 and #78 for their future 3rd. Then match the Benning bid with #120
Then we trade our future 3rd for pick #53 and #79 from Brisbane
So many permutations nowThere's a potential loop hole where we can trade that next pick away into the future when Benning is bid on.

I thought the AFL made moves to close that loophole after the way Sydney used it to draft Blakey. There's a potential loop hole where we can trade that next pick away into the future when Benning is bid on.

Post of the year....If we trade in an A-grade key forward - 'unexpected item in bagging area'
Yeah pretty sure Richmond are keen with one of their 3 top 20 odd picks. If we got jvr at 24 I'll do my best attempt at a cartwheel
What if someone bids on him after we have used all our vacant list spots, can we match aThere's a potential loop hole where we can trade that next pick away into the future when Benning is bid on.

yeah pretty sure as a (wyndham? kununurra?) product he's classified differently to motlop and thus we have access after 20 which won't matter anyway probablyEric Benning is eligible to be drafted by the Dockers after pick 20 is what I just read. That's from August 12th on the AFL site.
Isn't he in a different situation to Jesse Motlop -something to do with the more remote location he was from?
Moot point as people are saying he won't get picked before 40.
(having said that the same article also refers to Jye Amiss as an East Fremantle forward - so I guess it could be wrong more than once)
