Gotta love when a Carlton Supporter calls up trade radio and says Cerra aint worth pick 6 and that he only got 3 brownlow votes.

Ban these Numpty calls already!!!
Pretty sure petracca had a year with no votes. 🤷🏼‍♂️

(Not comparing the two, just indicating how dumb the Brownlow argument is)

Felt like calling up and saying no worries mate you go to draft and take a Paddy Dow and we will trade him elsewhere. Draft so overrated

I know we're not in the discussion for him but I absolutely loved the way Ben Long played when St Kilda moved him forward this season. Given we're the worst forward 50 pressure team in the comp, it seems like an area we really need to address.

Yeah but they don't that's the point - just because a player is contracted doesn't mean they want to keep them.
Does GWS really want Cogs? - no
Does Geel really want Clark? - no
When that is the case players are gettable for less and opportunity clubs know it despite what their clubs say publicly
I think Geelong do want to keep Clark. They will back themselves in for another finals run with very few of their ancients coming out of contract.

Far more value having Clark than a draftee, and with Scarlett gone they can play him in the backline in front of Zuthrie.

Again - not that simple. If a player doesn't want to stay and buy in clubs rarely keep them.
Good interview with player manager Marty Pask on trade radio this morning - talked about how clubs often tell contracted players to explore their options.
It doesn't mean they will follow that narrative publicly but contracts are not as binding and valuable as fans think.

I'm not sure we've played it well if we were looking to get Clark cheap.

We chased hard last year when he would had cost us a high first (I.e. too much). It seems like we were still working him and his manager in the meantime, which Geelong would know. So we've given Clark and Geelong every indication we're super keen. Then there's Fyfeys statement.

I'm more worried about this one than the Cerra trade.

Unpopular opinion, Motlop lasts beyond 40. Benning goes undrafted (Cat B).
Cross fingers on Motlop. If recruiters went by "only as good your last performance" he might last to Cat B as well :) He has a decent body of work over two years now though - so we'll be laughing if he gets past #40.

Benning will almost certainly last to Cat B. Love the glimpses he has shown this season but he's very speculative. Thinking we are getting him should not impact the rest of our drafting at all.

PRIOR to 2020, Christian Petracca had polled just five Brownlow Medal votes in 85 AFL games.
2020 he had 20 votes and came third, in 2021 he had 23 and came 9th and one the Norm Smith - Bet i know which medal he'd prefer to be known for!

Adam Cerra has polled 9 votes in 76 games - He is about to go BANG!

He was doing ketamine jacks, it's where you do 10 jumps and hit a line of ketamine.
That particular horse drug would do wonders after a workout for people who hated the workout but need to keep working out, so they forget that they hated it.

Such as pushing humans into the world.

And there are a lot of people starting to believe the rubbish that Geel genuinely want to keep him. They would have taken 27, unfortunately I think they are now going to squeeze a bit more out of us - just hope it's no more than pick 20 equivalent.

Yeah me too. Walk away Freo.

Leave this one late on the last day.

I don't think so. I think they are playing "Keep the fans anger focused outwards" with a lot of bad news around the club lately.

You've seen this play before with "Freo Signs Seven Players In a Row! (but not the ones you wanted)" and "We are walking away from the deal"

I'm sure this has come up already but if we secured pick 6 for Cerra,

8 to Gold Coast for Brodie, 19 and 22?

GC may even include a third round (40s) if they're sure that they won't use it. Would enough of our preferred players be available at 6, 19, 22, 27? (possibly losing a second round if Clark happens)

Hope you're right - we don't need to take a pineapple to get him.

I wouldn’t do it, after 6 and before 19, Van Rooyen, Amiss, Erasmus, Johnson all probably gone.

Geel will ask for one of those

8 for Brodie, Clark and 22 doesn't look that flash
