The ruck situation it a funny one because I imagine anyone that we would be happy with will want a reasonable amount of money.
i don’t mind someone like Ladhams but he has kicked 4 goals from 9 games this year and 6 from 10 last year. Nothing wrong with that but if we actually plan on TDK being a ruckman then Ladhams playing forward is abit of guess work. This will be true of pretty much all of our options.

With TDK and Ladhams both youngish ruckman/forwards, i would see them as pretty much equal partners, splitting their time between the ruck, forward or resting on interchange.

I wouldn’t be against it but I hate the thought of Ladhams and McKay in the same forward line. If Curnow gets back it’s going to be a very tough juggling act with our tall forwards and Rucks

Would love to get Josh Rachele in this years draft. He sounds like a gun small forward. Apparently is the best kick in the draft. We've been lacking in this area, and will get worse once Murphy retires. He's a Carlton supporter and has already spent a week training with the club. Knightmare has him at 5 and Twomey at 7 in their current rankings, so most likely will be gone with our 1st pick, but would be a great replacement for Betts. Kicked 6 goal for Murray Bushrangers last week!!

Quality first post. Definitely worth the 13 and a half year wait.

Yes, it would be an interesting mix in how we set it up.
Would we push H to CHF allowing him to push up to the wings as a dominant marking target coming out of defence.
This allows Charlie to play closer to goal giving defenders very sleepless nights.
TDK/Ladhams in the pocket as a 3rd marking option would prove incredibly hard for the opposition to match up on.

Interesting to see that there’s speculation around Rory Lobb potentially returning to Victoria. Has two years remaining on his contract at around $700k per year which is not cheap but he could be a great replacement for Levi and be the perfect partner for TDK.

Waste of money, showed a little promise at the Giants, just doesn’t produce it anywhere near enough for the talent he has...

Absolutely snare Adam Cerra if there’s a possibility, I’d trade SPS or Fisher and next year’s 1st.
Dangle a very juicy carrot to the youngster , Adam is all class with good upside too, Cripps, Walsh and Cerra create a formidable foundation, the cream can be added later.
Adam should remain un contracted, nominate CFC and negotiations will be much easier, especially given our ladder position which I expect will be in bottom 5/6.
Fisher will be a better player than Cerra, jmo but you can take that to the bank... 👍

Need to play him in the midfield for that to happen.
100% at least around the 50/50 balance, and since the broken leg COVID and more large chunks of missed games through injury hasn’t had a clear run at it...
Rate him very very highly, has it in spades just needs an uninterrupted run at it...
Look out...

I just don't know how we can fit Cripps, Walsh, Kennedy and Dow into the midfield, on top of one or several rotating forwards (Fisher, Cunners, Martin, SPS).

Thoughts on Max Lynch as a trade target?

Reports HFC (amongst others) are chasing and had interest in him last off-season too.

Turned it on on the reserves a couple of years ago vs us & the talent was visible for some, Harker.

Another ruck with mobility would be ideal. Pitto, despite being the good clubman, traded or delisted with Mirkov in reserve. Another ruck probably necessary.

Outs from (14); Murphy, LOB, Betts, Fisher, Parks, Pittonet, Newnes, Ramsay, Boyd, McDonald, Gibbons, Casboult, Setterfield, Cottrell

This interview of Luke Power by Terry is really great. One thing to note is that the reason that Stocker and Owies have done well since they got into the seniors is they were only promoted when they were ready. I’m sure the same will be true for Honey, Kemp, Carroll etc. and then when Honey does really well in his first few weeks everyone will say “see we told you to play him sooner” - but really the reason he will do well is because the coaches like Power really worked on his development and did whatever they could to set him up for success.

So when we think about our list management on here going forward we do need to now take into account the fact that Luke Power is probably doing a much better job than others in his post previously did for our players. So I don’t think we can write off many of our players for at least another year. Eg in this interview he mentions LOB getting close to being ready and he also mentions what SPS has learnt defensively. He didn’t mention Kennedy or Dow but both of them have clearly done better under his tutelage too.

I think for the first time in a long time when we cut a player we can truly say it’s on the player and not on the club because we are finally giving each player every chance to succeed.

Not sure where to post this video, so here seems like the best fit.

I had a really good chat with Luke Power about the development of players at the club. Definitely a hot topic at the moment.

Thanks for posting this. That really was a great insight into how we go about development and I feel a lot more confident we're doing what we can to bring the best out of our players. Cheers and Go Blues.

We need to be more inventive and adventurous, definitely a balancing act, it will mostly come down to horses for courses with how well the main mids are going at the time and also particular opposition matchups... If we want to contend then we need to be able too bat as deep as we can...

All of those main 4 will spend time on the pine, Walsh can do stints on a wing (actually prefer him there 50% of the time), Kennedy resting as a deep forward leading target, Cripps similarish, Dow only a mid at this stage.

Then stints from Martin, Cuners, Williams (he will play there ), SPS and others.

I like the variety

Walsh I noticed only went to 7 centre bounces last weekend. I wasn’t at the ground so it’s hard to tell if he played a different role but he did seem to be at pretty much all stoppages afterwards. ATM he plays a little like Macrae and that could work well in terms of balance in the future. In saying that Macrae was taking the most Centre bounces at the dogs over the majority of the season, I haven’t looked again lately though.
Dow just needs to spend a lot of time on the bench imo. ATM he is an impact player and no point having him running around in general play not getting involved. I think even last week he only had 6 touches in the second half, most likely because he run out of legs.

Need to be brave and look to offload a few blokes who can't kick and can't chase. Start with Setterfield, Curnow and Dow.

Dow’s kicking had improved of late. Ed works hard and at least gets kicks.
Really worried about Setterfield, fallen off a cliff. Not showing many redeeming features to his game.
