So with teams being announced the day before each matchday, instead of having 1 or maybe 2 days of melting about team selections, we are now gonna have 4 days straight of team selection melts for Round 1.

Awesome
It also means being gun shy trading players going round in the early games of a round. Probably reinforces the need to have as many playing options on your bench

$150 - $200k isn’t a little difference in price.
I get what you are saying but with Dusty you pretty much have a 100 point average player thats set and forget as well as the added bonus of dual position this year.

With a player like caldwell you may only end up with a player that averages 75 points and probably just increase 100k (just guessing here) and then you will need to use a trade upgrading him.

I can understand the risk with a player like impey who is 212,000 and could get to 500k if things go well.
The only way you would take Caldwell is if you see him being a 90-100 range player that might become a keeper

Does Caldwell have the ability in 2021 to average 90 points

I'm a huge fan of Clark, but I'm very sceptical of his job security also. I'd love to see him play every game this year, but with this backline - and quality competition for a spot on the wing - I'm concerned he'll still be rotated out of the side. Is 240k worth that risk?

FB: O'Connor, Blicavs, Kolodjashnij
HB: Stewart, Henderson, Henry
Wings: Smith, Menegola
IC: Bews (FWD?), Tuohy (FWD?)
That's the tallest backine ever, no way they run with that.
Grand Final: Taylor, Henderson, Blicavs, Stewart, Kolodjashnij, Henry, O'Connor, Bews, Tuohy
Prelim: Taylor, Henderson, Blicavs, Stewart, Kolodjashnij, Henry, O'Connor, Bews, Tuohy
Semi: Taylor, Henderson, Blicavs, Stewart, Kolodjashnij, Henry, O'Connor, Bews, Tuohy
Quali: Taylor, Henderson, Blicavs, Stewart, Kolodjashnij, Henry, O'Connor, Bews, Tuohy

id love to see the rest of this team

He has spent $8,421,000 not including the Forward line (Surely has Gawndy) but I assume he has swung a couple of players around (Dunkley & Phillips) so if he has Danger or Dusty there he only has less than $1,000,000 for the other 7 players so definately a GnR team :thumbsu:

Final team before rookies confirmed.

Sick of chasing players like Lloyd/Gawn/Neale/Macrae so have decided to just bloody start with them for once.

I am positive that Danger/Martin/Dunkley are going to be in the mix for top 3 highest scoring forwards, so am starting with all of them.
Danger in Mids, and will swing forward in a few weeks time.

Thinking is he is overpriced
May be true but so hard to get those players back in your side

I have the other 5 big players Llyod/Macrae/Danger/Gawn/Grundy but to play 13 keepers I had to leave 1 out and it was Neale. Trust me when I say my heart will be breaking every time he touches the footy but I'm hoping to get him in by R6 at a reduced price maybe around $660-$680k

Not sure what role he played in that game as i didnt watch it but looking at mins played 43 mins and scored 39 points in his first game back
Im thinking if he averages 85 he gets to around the 500k range gaining 250-280k whilst scoring reasonably

Impey won't get to 500k averaging 85

Sicily out if Impey is played off half back as a Houli type distributor
i cant see why he wouldnt average 80-90 points
I think you'll find Schrimshaw will be that distributor .....Impey will be the line breaker, and hopefully gets us a 75 ave

What's everyone's thoughts on Duggan?

I think he is a great option will be playing mainly midfield this year. He was there last year and scored pretty well. I think a 95+ average would be a good return.

Changed jobs this month, and Round 1 has crept up on me with all the other sh*t taking my attention.

This is a half hour job, and based primarily on the back of the discussion and submitted teams in this thread... apologies for the lack of creativity.

Would appreciate any feedback on the below as a starting point. Worried my mids are too weak. Also have the same fears for forwards and backs!

Cheers

10 million doesn't go very far these days, does it? You have 12 keepers - your middle line trio are only medium strength.

You don't need Butts. You could replace him with Briggs, who complements Flynn. When one is rucking, the other is not and can serve as your (vc) loophole. Maybe you get a lucky split of games where both get to earn money.

The money saved from Butts can upgrade Gaff to Bont or Merrett without affecting your bank. Either of these are reliable super premos. Jelly and Fyfe always seem to miss games. If you're happy with the potential upside of Rowell and Walsh keep them.

Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson has revealed the AFL’s potential introduction of a concussion sub this season is likely to require that the sub be no older than 21 years, in an effort to help blood young players while protecting those who suffer head knocks.

The league is considering a coaches-driven request (led in part by Clarkson) for an additional 23rd player, who would be used as a concussion sub.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast, Clarkson hinted that an age requirement could be part of the substitute rule to help introduce more young players to senior footy.

Easiest fix, emergencies can be used as concussion subs, but only after a 20min concussion check. So if someone gets knocked out then the emergencies have a 20min warm up

Reckon this is my final side, or very close to it. Just unsure on two things:

- Laird
- Rookie selections

Any advice on the two above? I have about 25k in the bank.
