I know Mac is who we want. I feel that all comes down to what GWS do.

I don't want to be mean but I highly doubt you have the inside word on our drafting strategy - especially if your inside source is one of the players. Unless that player is Fyfe, I don't think Walls and Bell are informing the team of our targets and/or strategy.

Clubs play their cards close to their chest at the draft - and we have particularly in the past. We didn't show much interest in Chapman until a few days before the draft last year. I fully expect we have an interest in Andrew but he will be considered against a number of other options.

It is understood that while Fremantle is interested in Mac Andrew they are also interested in selecting other players and could opt to go multiple ways on draft night, the club were unavailable for comment on this flexible draft strategy, responding via text to an offer for interview with "Schrodinger's draft pick". It is understood that the response was not intended to be understood.

I haven't expected to hear anything out of Fremantle in the media since I was sitting in my car at Mullaloo making sure everything was in place and the radio said Fremantle had picked up Danyle Pearce as a free agent.

The only blue chips are before our picks.

I don't see it that way. I think players like Erasmus, Johnson, Amiss are blue chip even with slight knocks on their game. Others may slip to our pick too.

NWM is so silky and can kick but those turns which evade his opponent may work at u18 level but I doubt he will get that space at AFL Level.

Andrew looks amazing but he's playing against kids a lot smaller than him. Will it translate against big bodies at AFL level?

I think we could take 1 but 2 would be a gamble.

To me amiss seems like a player with a fair scope for improvement. He starts at a very good pre draft base.
* he will not be getting any shorter
* full time training in a professional environment will build on natural talent
* full time training will build a stronger body, improving length of kicks

Happy to go amiss with either of the first two picks.

I get your skepticism and that’s fine. Your right, the players wouldn’t know. All I’ll tell you is I do know what I post, and recent history would prove that, I don’t guess. I know more than I’ve posted here too. But no offense taken.

I love the sound of Jai Serong. Would definitely take him if he’s around at the right pick. Jack Gunston type? Yes please.
Warming more & more to Amiss. He sounds like a quality young man with plenty of talent & lots of upside & we simply have to start taking a chance on some tall forwards.

The club has repeatedly said over the years (and I would argue you can see it in action in the past few years) that they will go with their highest rated, but if there are two players at the same rating but one is from WA they will go with the WA player.

A lot has been made of us talking a lot with Callaghan, Amiss, Rachele, Andrew etc. but I believe this is more due diligence for players that are possibilities with the potential draft hand that we thought we would create (pre-trade period) rather than any particular commitment. I am guessing we did further due diligence on Callaghan because we GWS has had pick 2 "on offer" for some time.

I can also totally believe that Andrew would also be very high up on our rankings, but I am strongly also guessing that he will be gone before our first pick, with both GWS and GC now having rumors of very strong interest, and I suspect that whilst we may offer a pick swap to downgrade their positions a tiny bit to pick them up, the winner of the pick swap won't be us but one of the clubs sitting before us.

Combine this with continued consistent monthly rankings by Twomey whom (whilst he may not necessarily get much info out of our recruiters) will nevertheless be able to pick up where the market value is at of each of the other players and I would suggest that Erasmus (at pick 6 that becomes 8, rating by Twomey at 10) and Amiss (pick 8 that becomes 10, rated by Twomey at 11) will be right in the gun just simply because they won't be able to differentiate between some of these players at this level, and the tie-breaker state of origin rule will kick in. So in short, what I think will happen:

1. We would pick Andrew if available, but I am betting on him being taken by GC or GWS through some early pick swapping. We would also entertain some pick swapping to move up to 2 but we won't be able to offer as an attractive offer as some of the clubs before us in the order.
2. We will probably be weighing up Rachele versus Erasmus at our first pick; good likelihood we rate both equally and will go Erasmus on tie break (even though there is not much noise around about Erasmus -> Freo).
3. Richmond will then go Rachele (there is the possibility they go Amiss but I reckon that is pretty low).
4. We will then pick up Amiss as our next best available (nothing to do with him coming from WA).

And so, in the end, I am guessing that those that were wanting WA players to be picked with the first two picks may get their wish this year, but it won't have happened with much intention.

The interesting one is Ward, who could also be someone that falls through to our picks if Andrew goes early, given he has apparently said in interviews that he does not want to leave Victoria - that would be a fun day for Freo's PR. There is also the chance that someone else in the top 5 picks rates Erasmus higher (I certainly do) and that they go with him before our first - in that instance I reckon we end up with Rachele or whomever falls out from higher as our first pick.

Andrew and NWM are pretty speculative picks.

Re: NWM - how many skinny flankers/wingers have we taken over the years with "elite" kicking skills? Jayden Pitt was an elite kick - which never translated to the AFL. Henry, Simpson. Highlights of NWM show him kicking when he has lots of time. How is his kicking under pressure?

Reckon this years AFL draft is even more of a lottery than other years due to most of the Eastern State talent not being able to play much/get much exposure. We will see some late picks turn out to be gems and - more so than usual - early picks turn out to be busts.

I actually don’t know, but from what I’ve seen I would agree with you. If he and amiss are on the board it would be an interesting call.
If Rachele and Amiss are on the board at 6 I would expect us to take Amiss and then Rachele at 8 if we wanted him (I think the two would provide an enormous improvement to our goal scoring ability which is my main concern). Richmond picks between us and the common expectation is that they are after a tall like Amiss to replace Jack but have enough creative non-tall forwards (Parker, Castagna, Rioli x 2, and even Bolton and Dusty) that IMO they would have other interests than Rachele.

Thing about Andrew, for me, is not that he does the tall-guy stuff well - which he does - but that he's actually a really neat kick. Good vision and composed in traffic.

Of course, he will get snapped in two the first time he plays. Can you imagine the catastrophe when Mummy accidentally on purpose falls on him. It'd be like a rhino f>cking an Ikea hatrack.

Is Mummy going to trip eating a pie in the stands and fall all the way on to the oval?

Andrew has added 10kg already...a guy who is that mobile and has great skills, below his knees would be invaluable.
We've seen how quickly Jackson came on...
I also wonder whether J-lo watches his own highlights and is wondering what he could do with Andrew
