The Wolfman's 2024 Phantom Draft - V 2.0 - The Mongrel Punt
Phantom Draft time, and nobody knows the field as well as The Wolfman. Here are his picks ahead of the 2025 AFL Draftthemongrelpunt.com

I will be looking closely at Drapes next time he stands next to Moose to see if he might have grown an inch. Currently they say he is 4 cm shorter than Alex. 197 vs 201 cm. He has a good leap, speed and athleticism and we know he will get stronger. Lets hope he is still growing. Not a fan of drafting a replacement for Pearce. We've drafted three KPDs on two years - I don't think it changes much that none are exactly the same type as Pearce is.
Let the recently drafted guys develop or fail first. If it's fail we trade in 3-4 years.
Think that's common sense tbh.
I think it’s convenient for them to give us Hotton in these phantom drafts because they think he go around that range but can’t see anyone else who’s interested. I’d expect us to take all of Berry, Lindsay and Travaglia ahead of Hotton if they’re still on the board.Another phantom draft linking us to Hotton.

I would think that it's just by virtue of his very late growth spurt that he is a key defender at all with that athletic profile, if he were always a giant and that quick and agile I would think every junior coach in the world would have played him forward.
Those three plus Shanahan - those I believe are the ones we have interviewed multiple times, and unlike some other clubs, when we interview multiple times, that is normally a good sign of who is of interest to us and there is normally a good correlation to who we will pick unless someone who was a "certainty to not be there" falls through (say Draper or Smith or someone like that). As you say, the Hotton thing I think is just people trying to fit him in somewhere around this range but for mine he is someone that will probably drop to the 20s or further.I think it’s convenient for them to give us Hotton in these phantom drafts because they think he go around that range but can’t see anyone else who’s interested. Hotton is a Vic Metro kid coming off an ACL. Two red flags for me.
In an ideal world we draft someone who adds to our depth straight away but has the ability to develop into a best 22 player. A Vic Metro kid probably walks back home in three years if they play say 12 games in season three.
I could tolerate that, if he good skills.
I don't think he has good skills. At least not in front of goal. Watch his footage from the Round 1 game. It is a horror show in front of the big sticks. Sprayed 3 or 4 absolute sodas that went nowhere near the goals. He kicks 4 in Round 2, but 2 are from the goal line. The others were nice enough snaps, but from relatively close range. His goal in Round 3 also from the goal line. His field kicking looked a bit better, but quite a few turnovers sprinkled in as well. Have zero interest in him.
Not a bad option, unless it’s an inside mid or KPD with no flexibility. I’m starting to come around to the fact we probably need a developing KPF too. They usually take 2-3 years to even be ready for AFL and we lost 2 in the offseason plus a medium forward.Joe Brierty in 91.3 fm, just now said, best available at pick 14 , from a priority list they will prepare.

Not a chance with the interest in him, Kangas are a chance to pull the trigger at 2 if they don't find a suitable sliding trade partner.I really like Tauru. It would be a dream for him to reach us at 14.
A 'priority list'? Really?Joe Brierty in 91.3 fm, just now said, best available at pick 14 , from a priority list they will prepare.
