List Mgmt. 2022 AFL Draft & Rookie Draft

Looking at List and Contract Status thread, is there anything in that it looks like 17 players are OOC next year...? Is it a sign...?
Yes, it’s a sign our most recent list contract management has been very good.
A large portion of those out of contract have not performed at best 22 levels or you would argue have been overpaid based on output are coming to end of contracts. Players in this group will be moved on or get new contracts based on output - not reputation.
We’ve locked in the most important pieces to long term deals.
The exceptions are Docherty (will be straightforward contract renewal) Williams (overpaid and underperforming) Martin (was heavily front loaded - now getting paid appropriately) and TDK (our most pressing list management issue).

Both.

How many levels has Hollands played at? The better TAC Cup players don’t necessarily go on to become gun AFL players - look at Dow.

I’m saying if we believe he will be available at a later selection then we’d be best served trading back and adding another early pick. Similar to Kemp in his draft year.
To date Hollands has probably shown more than those mentioned around the mark and (IMO) there's more surety around him settling into a position at the next level, whilst admittedly not the sexy, x-factor pick that some are after, there's definite value to a consistent, two way running balanced mid, even if he's seen as being meat & potatoes/vanilla.
He may not be the preferred option, (personally, I'd rather Hayes) but in no way is it a waste.

Just a conversation piece.
I think a lot of people are really underselling the depth of this draft.
Some Victorian players outside the Top 10-12 (so disregard Hollands for the moment) that I think could end up on lists and be solid players.

‘Jefferson
Hayes
George
Teal
‘Szybkowski
Hustwaite
Weddle
Van Es
Konstanty
Burgiel
Long
Vickery
McMullin
Knobel
Penny

You can easily see why Austin wants another pick in the top 30, preferably another teen pick

…and I missed that Harvey Gallagher and there’s Clarke, Gruzewski, Harvey, Edmends, Dury, amongst others. Then there’s also a ton of WA, SA, Allies to choose from too. It’s a deeeeeeeeeeeeeep draft let’s be honest.

This is a great insight (which I also randomly but not so concisely think about), but I must admit I posted my comment firmly tongue in cheek... I'm a bit like a little kid banging the table, constantly saying, "Seventeen, seventeen, seventeen." And, as an aside, I want new players (as all players) to have that confidence (self-confidence, whatever) to think how they can bring us 17 too...

And Anderson.

Edmends, Anderson and McMullin are sleepers

I have Campbell hovering around my top 40.

From what I've seen he's quick but very clean and seems to be able to keep himself involved. Strong aerially for a smaller type.

Think there will be better options available at our current 2nd but would certainly have a look late.

I’m not nearly smart enough to pick up on nuanced humour - but all power to you, I’m definitely keen on 17 also!!
