Want. Although the highlights are entirely as a forward, he looks like he could play in any third of the ground.
From the little I’ve seen of keeler in the ruck, he’s pretty good there. As a second ruck in your 22 option I think he would be very good at that when he’s ready.

He’s done a lot more rucking at north than someone like Scully has for wests as far as I know.

With all of these talls, could this year be a year where the combine actually matters? Ie Scully has the tank or keeler the speed, Hayes the leap
I think too much is out on the the combine for the top end talent. It’s the back end, picks 50ish where player X and player Y seperate themselves with Pace/Endurace or Explosive Repeat efforts or Vert Jump.

The top end talent can all play and are selected on interviews and weight of performance

If we are in top3 , torn now between ELIJAH TSATAS and Lemmey. Both are real needs , however TSSTAS is the the highly skilled speedy linebreaker mid that we really need to complement our midfield. (think gws like Kelly) . I think midfields really win the big games and KPF's are the cream. If Lemmey was a contested type big strong forward rather then the quick lead up type then I would switch.

Nice choice to have however.

I'm mainly a champ watcher with a bit of SANFL stuff

Suspecting a top 6 pick

One of wardlaw, Hewett, Holland's if it's a mid

Lemmey if we want a tall

I'd rather back in Lord and Vinsentini to partner Marshall and Georgiadis long term.

We just need a long bail out option that we use as a last resort, not a Dixon replacement.

I'd rather target a genuine inside, outside mid.
Statistically Lord and Visentini are probably 90% chances to be busts. The only way to even somewhat reliably get capable tall forwards is to pay up for them. For a club that very rarely gets picks in the top few of the draft, we need to use this one on a KPF.

Yea spot on have to get an early pick to get a good tall. Even then the busy potential is high but worth the risk. tall players are higher risk and don’t make it outside of the first round (defenders and rucks can be found later - perhaps a reflection that these roles are easier to play or that a team can compensate for an average player or that there isn’t a big difference between a good and great ruck or defender).

There aren’t many ‘contested’ markers in the juniors because of the zone rules. Even in the SANFL, players are often able to get on a lead and you don’t see the contested situations like in the AFL.

The key for mine is the attitude - if you have good hands, some arrogance and are ruthlessly competitive, I think you’ll work it out. Schache suffers in this area - tall, athletic, good hands and a great kick but lacks the killer instinct. Toddy maybe the same. May is probably the best example of this at the moment. Lemmey appears to be competitive, hates to lose - that being said I haven’t seen heaps of his games, but does appear more likely to make it than not.

The other issue along side the zone rules seems to be the real lack of any quality tall defenders at U18 level, especially in SA. Guys like Scully, Keeler all seem to have considerable height advantage over their defenders in the footage I have seen. Will be interesting to see how they go in the Champs hopefully against taller opponents.

I haven’t seen lemmey play as a contested marking type kf, but that’s kinda cause he doesn’t wait for that. He leads at the ball, or gets on his bike.

I’m not sure I want to assume he doesn’t have the ability to take a contested grab. He’s got the size, hands and demeanour for it.

I think he’s exactly the kf I want at port. I’m happy for him to be our spearhead next to Georgiades. The way he moves, and Georgiades being a threat whenever the ball comes into his area in the air I think defenders would be having fits.

But I don’t want to get excited about it happening, cause something will happen. We will win a couple of pointless games late and go up the order (all so Hinkley can say I’m not so bad on the way out the door after failing as a coach to get us where we should be) or we trade it away.

Having said that about lemmey I’m super excited about the group of mids available at the top end.

See Id rather we just buy one off someone else

We've developed 1 elite KPF in 25 odd years

I'm very nervous we would turn Lemmey into Mitch Thorp

And when was the last time we took a top 5 KPF in the draft?
sorry to intrude, but if you guys do genuinely have a bottom out year this year, why not put the squeeze on GC using the PSD threat to nab Lukosius who some think wants to go to port if he comes back - potentially get him for not that much and then use your high 1st on Lemmy or the best available mid- get 2 top enders in this year.

A couple of names being spoken about for mid season draft Mitch O'Neil from South Adelaide a mid fielder .
And Max Ramsten a 202 athletic ruckmen obviously very raw.
I take it if we put someone on the LTI they have to stay out for the whole yr?.
Lycett at a minimum should be put on need to take advantage of this opportunity.

Lycett should 100 percent be put on the LTI. Why bother bringing him back in round 18,19,20?

We’re a club that plays nice at the trade table with the idea that being seen as a club that can get trades done makes us a more attractive destination. Maybe it does, but I’m not sure it’s helped more than the extra picks we would have if we had bent over clubs when we had the opportunity.

In any case it would be nice to land luko, and nice to land him cheap but

A) I can’t see us really trying to bend gcs over

B) I suspect gcs will far over value luko based on where he was drafted and hype

C) if luko can make it as a forward, he’s a high chf, which we already have in Marshall. He could be an upgrade on Marshall, but that’s a steep price to pay for an upgrade. Georgiades Marshall and luko probably aren’t the ideal kf mix.

D) I like lemmey better as a kf, and he’s a better fit with what we have. I can’t see that our club would add both this off-season.

E) there’s no way I want to trade out of this draft. In fact we should be trying to get more picks in it.

A look at our list I'm fairly confident we can find a couple of 2nd round picks 1 though FA compo and a trade somewhere?

Is next year's 1st tradable?

Luko and the best mid in this draft would be the best outcome out of the off season but giving up our 1st round pick this year for Luko is not going to happen and and if we don't get Luko at a realistic price Lemmey is 1st pick.

Would happily do next year's 1st for Luko thinking we still have a good list and will bounce back hard next year.
