For the 2 pre-season games v WC, anyone think Longmuir will choose not to field his overall best side (whatever that might be) and instead play 2 different versions of our final side, at least as far as various wing/half back/small forward possies go?

From memory (happy to be corrected) he did this, more or less, last year or year before against Weags.
**** these pre season games with west coast. Last year we beat them in the first one played at about the same intensity as a backyard cricket match, then 2 weeks later it was absolute carnage at Optus as they bullied us off the park and about 5 of our guys picked up significant injuries.

Yes. It was a nightmare.

I'd say they won't be coming out very hard at all given their current off-season carnage.

Interesting that Switta and Darcy are our 'elite' players this season according to the guru ninjas at Champion Data.
If you go by the clubs f and B Darcy won the Doig and Switta came 10th while only playing 12 games.

Not diagreeing, I also rate Darcy and Switta highly but there's a few others that I'd put higher than Switta - I expect Bae and Serong to dominate this year.

If Switta polled the same rate and played 20 games he would have been 4th.

I seriously don’t believe that Switta is in the best 10 players at the club.

I think he can be, and will be very soon. He offers something that no other players did last season which was elite pressure, and im guessing the coaches valued that a lot to have him ranked so highly. Was our clear best in the last game we played

There was a news story (can't for the life of me find it) that had Switta top in the comp across the opening three rounds of 2021 in some stat or set of stats (probably pressure-related). Or something. I remember finding it impressive, whatever it was.

I'm going to pick one for our practice match in just over 2 weeks against the slime.

Assuming, Fyfe, Mundy, Treacy unavailable. Expect Tabs to play. No idea if Amiss is fit. Haven't seen Aish lately? Obviously no Johnson

Ryan Pearce Hamling
Clark Cox Young
Henry Tucker Chapman
Freddy Lobb Sturt
Walters Tabs Shultz

R - Darcy Brayshaw Serong
I - Erasmus Switta Logue Brodie

Extended IC which I'm pretty sure they'll have
Acres Banfield Blakely Hughes Meek O'Driscoll Crowden Walker Wilson

Bloody hell, good luck picking 22 when Fyfe & Mundy available.
I can't get players I want in like Wilson, Walker, O'Driscoll even now & I assume Aish is still best 22.

Better on paper than any team we put out last year and still Fyfe Mundy Aish Treacy and Walker to demand spots. We’ve never looked this good.

Interesting take...given the wc won by 10 points. "Bullied"? Can't remember who got injured, but there were a couple, don't know if it qualifies as "carnage", but that could happen in any match against whoever...or even at training for that matter.

Walters, Lobb, Crowden and Banfield:

Pretty sure there was a fifth announced in the days following.

"Carnage" is classic hyperbole phrasing to elicit an emotional response, the main point is that could happen in any game or training session, whether it's a practice match makes no consequential/logical difference.

How many injuries in one game to one team would it take for you to consider it carnage?

If you really love the visceral impact of using "carnage", go for it. Most weren't huge injuries, but that's not really the main point, it was more around the fact that injuries in practice matches are the same as injuries in any other place.

I don't 'love' the use of carnage I was simply asking what how many injuries it would take for you to consider it carnage. Which you didn't answer.
