How do we do that though?

Trade pick 28 and 30 this year for a 2nd and 3rd in 2023.
Then trade pick 16 and 2023 First for a top 5 pick.

Leaving us with pick say 4 and 51, 79.
The talk was around a package of pick swaps including: in 4, a F2nd & F3rd to enable us to trade out both our first's present and future as well as further talk to trade out one or both of our 2nd rounders to sweeten the pot.
For the record I'm happy to keep our choices with the hope we can improve our hand on draft day for 2022 & maybe even 2023 (e.g. a future 2nd or whatever the improved hand may look like)

Weddle makes a fair bit of sense for us. Slightly undersized as a key back but shown he has the strength and competitiveness to play on bigger opponents, but importantly tested really well athletically and is attacking minded, so is a gameplan fit.

I think in some people's proposed selections they are forgetting we have a really defined gamestyle now and we're probably going to pick accordingly. Look out for competitive line breaking backs and attacking ground ball type small mid/fowards. Hotton, Cowan, Ryan, Konstanty, Clarke and Richardson I'd look out for with our picks. We may take the ruckman Barnett, but I think in general we arent going tall, we're going to try and get even quicker and more attacking. People will be annoyed, but look at the movement in the trade period. If we actually get our salary cap in order we can actually target some quality talls, rather than speculative types in the draft.
I agree with you. I'm expecting a couple of flankers, they're so important to our style and we essentially have none in the reserves.

Come on down Cowan and Ryan. Wouldn’t be unhappy with that either. Cowan looks absolute class… Ryan more of a smokey, but also impressive. Brisbane or Geelong would love a Cowan to replace Rich or Stewart I’m sure

Yeh read that & was surprised
Joe Richards has had the runs on the board for a few years now & still couldn't get selected at the mid-season draft so I have my doubts he goes that high.
If it's that type of player were after at pick 27 then I'd rather we use it on Burgiel or even Clarke
Look forward to Twomey's phantom on the 26th
He's a country football prospect. They're rarely invited to the MSD. You also have to "discover" them. How many drafts was Mihocek overlooked for?

That is the better option if they are the better players. Then if you have surplus you trade. Easier to trade quality than it is to get duds to perform
But clubs are locking young guns away.

Over the next three years - we need a quality tall defender, plus replace Howe. Also a quality tall forward, and replace Mihocek and Elliott.

This year and next we have 4 sub 30 draft picks.

Concerned that, at his height, he is more a fine VFL player. Like his dad.
his height? taller than adams, daicos, bascally the same height more or less of sidebottom. Lots of mids make it in the 183-5ish
I'd be concerned if he was 173 not 183cn.

On reflection (bit of research after your assessment) better than I realised.

An athletically gifted midfielder. Clean disposal, speed and cleanliness below his knees are three traits that standout - second in the 20m sprint at the National Combine with a stunning 2.88-second run.’

However ……. not beyond the realms of possibility that a Cowan, Hustwaite, Barnett, Konstanty, George or Gruzewski could still be available for our third pick.

I read somewhere Nicky D wants Tsatas at the Pies. Can't remember where. Ex teammate perhaps or close friends. Nick rating him is enough for me.

Certainly enough to warrant very noisily making enquiries. Actually getting it done is another matter.

How many list spots does Adelaide have? Would they do it?

Brisbane have a few Future 2nds and 3rds, but don’t think they can trade them without a first.

Would have been interesting to see if they would have traded both a F2 and a F3 for our 25 so they don’t go into deficit.

Issue is I don't think we have seen our full coaches vision ie real gameplan.
There is no way he wants to get smashed out of the midfield as bad as we do in fact he has stated as much several times throughout 22 season.
Tom Mitchell addition lends to that as well, no need to be as reliant on rebounding if you win the ball at the source and have good inside 50 connection to quality talls.

Also we have more flankers on the list then other type of player. Even Ruscoe projects as a flanker type as a preferred position. Pace, height and build.

Flankers are found in every draft, dime a dozen type players, just depends on what flaws you are willing to live with depending on what range you need to pay.

We could have had the Bont as well. Meh, I can't remember.
Perhaps we got DeGoey instead.
I love Jordy and expecting him to lift to another level. He looks focussed on improving.
Nah, Bulldogs trumped us for Bont and we ended up with Scharenberg.

Issue is they don't know if they are better players for years in some cases or they get it wrong and ya left with list full of flankers and most teams have heaps good enough to do the job needed.
