Just get the kid.

Interesting to also read about how covid affected him during the year. (Much like has been rumoured with Lemmey).

For those worried about homesickness:

“I’m probably most likely going to be leaving WA and I welcome that prospect along quite well and my family have really adapted and absolutely excited for me to go wherever I am to follow my dreams since I was a kid,” he said. To play at the top level’s for me to be as competitive as I can, absolutely excited. My goal was set in the preseason trying to get myself to the top level to try and play as early as possible.”

I read that Lemmey didn’t even contract COVID, but his family did, so he had to isolate, and that set him back? Seemed a long bow…

If we take cowan, I wonder if we still take Ryan
I wonder if this Ryan "news" is a bit of smoke and mirrors. Like what if a few of better available talent is still there, surely you still dont take Ryan?

All part of the strategy of drafting. We know there will be talent at our pick, so we just have to sit back and select who we think is the best available.

I'd lean towards us selecting Ryan, Lemmey, Richards, Noble upgraded for Murley, Wilson (re-rookied), add Ashwin as a Cat B?

Not the worst hand possible.
That’s a C- in my books

You’re leaving about 10 guns on the board with those picks.. and another handful that offer big upside

COLLINGWOOD

Draft picks: 16, 25, 27, 51, 79.
Contracted: 38 (one category B rookie).
List needs: Long-term defensive and ruck options.
The Magpies find themselves smack bang in the middle of a swathe of Giants and Swans picks late in the first round, after being active players in the trade period. Medium-sized defender Jakob Ryan is one player consistently linked with Collingwood, and to a lesser extent Melbourne. Jedd Busslinger is almost certain to be gone by Collingwood’s first pick, so if it’s not Ryan, they may instead go for another defender in Lachie Cowan. The Giants like Olli Hotton, son of ex-Collingwood big man Trent, so the Magpies would likely need to use pick 16 on him if they want him. Small forward Charlie Clarke has also been raised as a potential target, but that may be in the second round. Key defender Lewis Hayes could still be available in the 20s but industry sources believe ruckman Harry Barnett would be a priority at 25. They could place a bid on Brisbane Lions father-son prospect Jaspa Fletcher, too. Collingwood are committed to redrafting delisted first-year midfielder Cooper Murley in the rookie draft.

Really? Pretty sure he was out for a game or two due to covid. Was informed of that on a few draft threads at least.

Could have been just protocols, but it would seem pretty strange.

Take it with a grain of salt then, because I’ll have a hard time finding the article now, but I’m sure that’s what I read.

Ryan, Lemmey and Richards, not the worst? If it's not the worst it's close to it.
Ryan is a meh prospect, Lemmey has potential (think he's been unlucky) and Richards is a mature age gun.

Where we have our picks isn't the talent heavy part of the draft. One of Hustwaite, Hayes and Hotton might be available so we could take them. I feel there's at least one surprise coming our way on draft night ...

Bit early to sa

Y he can't put on weight though. Noone is saying it about Hayes
It’s nonsense. Nobody can definitively say that Scully isn’t capable of putting on weight at this stage of his development.

my mail is thet we are very much into Cowan. Have interviewed him 4 times.

Would be a wasted pick imo

Talented kid, sure…

… but as soon as TAS team starts… any talented TAS players will be poached.

Having learnt from their mistakes with Suns and Giants; TAS team will have an emphasis on mature age, ready to play talent AND will be given a tonne of concessions to make that happen

Put years of work into Cowan… for him to then walk to TAS inaugural team with the AFL’s blessing

Haven’t said it until now, but I reckon there’s a bit of Hodge (the half back version) in Lachie.

If that’s a position we are keen to fill I think he’s our best option (but not massively in front of Ryan, who has performed exceptionally this season)

My perception is that people who move from Tassie don't return home as often as the otherstates Could be way off in my perception though.

Most Tasmanians eventually come back home, I was away for 12 years. Some Tasmanians can't wait to leave. We will get a decent draft pick for him in a draft where we won't get near the top 10. He'll be a premiership player so it will be a high pick

Look up ectomorph, Scully will never have the necessary bulk, it's the main reason he's not a decent prospect and Tony Notte says hi.

The majority of 200cm 18 year olds are skinny as rakes, that doesn’t make them all ectomorphs.

The McKay boys were both rakes when they were drafted too, even lighter than Scully. Did you say the same thing about them in their draft year?

Nik Cox was the skinniest kid I’d ever seen at the beginning of 2020, he’s 94kg now and filling out nicely. Did you say he was an ectomorph when he was drafted?

The fact is you have no idea whether Tom is an ectomorph or not, because his body is still developing. Stop pretending like you know any better.
