I'm not so sure. Going by his interview, he mentioned that next years is a talls draft, thats why we went after midfielders this year. So I think there is a very good chance we're target one of a tall. Especially since McRae is involved in this draft dealings and he has seen what elite key forward/defenders can do/help you. From his time at Richmond. I'd think he would be telling him what we do need.

Fingers crossed anyway. We still need a 2nd rounder. But if we get 2 1st, I'd get Lemmey and a key defender, less there are really class/elite mids at tge top end. Then 2nd round get a defender. Maybe a small forward? What are our other needs?
Would he go 2 talls if he got a pick for Goo? because I reckon you need to do that to ensure one is a gun

Yeah, hard to say. If he goes tall with the first pick, may see who is next available on his list. If thats another tall, so be it, if its a an elite mid. We probably need another bull mid, clearance beast. But given there are 8 talls (mixture of key forwards/defenders) in the potential top 20 at this point, you probably would go for talls given how hard good ones are to come by, especially for us. Given its very rare for us to have high picks.

Mids you can get any time, unless they are a special kind of mid you desperately could use.

Dekka has a bit of history of loading up on a player type in the one draft.

Ok, so what’s the point of having nga players if you can’t preferentially take them in the draft.

I’d love to go back to the under 19 model, where you develop your own talent.
All thanks to the Jamarra thing last year. But also they say with covid, clubs arent spending as much on academies.. And in the end, its more about putting these kids in the system.

The Northern State Teams should have the Same Rules as is about getting Kids into AFL System

I’m always sceptical rating a player on their under 19 form if they are physically more mature than everybody else. He’s a beast!

Look up Isaac Keeler has a bit of young buddy Franklin or Ryder (when rucking) look about him. Is Adelaide's NGA player but they won't get him.

Kicked 5 in SANFL seniors.

Surprised he wasn't mentioned in that article.

Hard to knock Lemmey out of pole position for best list fit IMO. He’d have to have an injury plagued year to drop significantly even then I’d still take him if we had an early pick.

Keeler will give him a shake i reckon, both look jets hopefully we can wheel and deal our way into landing both...yeah yeah I'm greedy.
Could be our Rough and Buddy draft if we did manage it and they continue to develop. All be it the highly unlikely scenario of said trade happening.

Other clubs can bid for them. Plenty of kids that either club took and was there for the taking. Especially with limited list spots. Those clubs won't keep them all, as thats impossible, so if you want one of them, nobody is stopping you.

But they get the Best ones though

Keeler really interests me, too

I'm hoping we cash in our chips for exactly the players we want (I don't want another Bont / Shaz + Freeman situation)

I'd be more than happy for the club to use the use the 2023 1st, 2022 1st, trade in at least one more first (compensation or trade of one of our established players...name not mentioned...)
Use the above (+ more if required) to get the picks we need to secure the players we want.

Well it is a gamble, you can only try. Could strick lucky. if not, you go onto your next prospect on your list. Richmond grabbed a couple of the lions academy kids a few years back.

In the 40's they put there Bid on

I am turning the JDG situation into a positive from hereon.

He stays and plays, and plays great and we have wiped 200-300's pa of his his 3 year deal, instead of 9-1M per year it is on 600 a year OR a club offers him 800 a year and we get compo.

Two top 10 picks next year, or hopefully, JDG's best for next 7-10 years at unders.

I just wanna win a flag.

Agree, all going well, JDG turns things around and becomes the best he can be - we get a great player under market rates due to past transgressions.

Relishing this week’s SA U18 Talent Camp at Thebarton Oval, the Bloods’ tall forward linked up with Crow and former Westies prodigy Riley Thilthorpe to run 100 100m sprints from 6.30am on December 25.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the 17-year-old said he was desperate to do whatever is required to be selected in this year’s AFL Draft.

Likening himself to Richmond premiership forward Tom Lynch and the King twins, Max and Ben, Lemmey know his aerobic capacity needs to be at a high level to lead up the ground like those he’s trying to emulate.

The 199cm teenager is also aiming to improve his contested marking while hoping to add to the two League matches he played for West in 2021.

Completing his Year 12 study at Scotch College last year, Lemmey is looking to pursue a tertiary qualification in the sports industry while also acting as a medical courier in 2022.

The Crows fan was interviewed by six Victorian clubs after the Camp’s main training session on Tuesday, as all players chatted from AFL scouts from each of the clubs except Brisbane and Sydney.

I assume the 6 vic clubs would have been the 6 outside the 8 in 2021 (north, pies, hawks, carlton, richmond, st kilda) You can pretty much cross him out for the those on the top of the ladder as there is word he'd be the first key forward selected in the draft.

He be a Great Get IF we have another Bad Season

1st thing we need to be doing is working the trade period hard. Package those 3rd round picks to the Lions for their 1st.
We need 2x 1st round picks to continue with this rebuild.

De Goey going would get us a 2nd 1st Rounder
