1st thing we need to be doing is working the trade period hard. Package those 3rd round picks to the Lions for their 1st.
We need 2x 1st round picks to continue with this rebuild.
I do agree a 2nd 1st would be great. Shame we dont have a second rounder yet. Lions would need points, so they'd be selling their 1st rounder, but depends what our 3x 3rds would be equal to in terms of points and if there would be other clubs that would have a better offer (2nd rounder +)

De Goey going would get us a 2nd 1st Rounder
trading in 2023 1st would get us another

Don't know if we're going to be at the very top if the draft to grab the ones we want so we're going to need to be prepared to trade players and picks to get to where we want

It’s going to be the longest draft lead up ever this year. I’m getting excited by the prospect of getting an actual key forward, and I don’t even know who they are yet.

Based on a likely 2022 bottom 5 ladder position…

we’d have a top 5 pick and then a bunch of picks in the 40s and 50s that won’t… unless Wright has already done a provisional deal with the Lions… be enough alone be attractive enough to earn us another late first round pick from the lions without adding something further to it

And with Moore, Maynard etc resigned we’d have nothing to sell of high value (De Goey not worth as much as everyone wishes he is… the rose tinted glasses are on there)

I think we’re set for an ordinary draft hand this year… at best maybe upgrade some of those 40s and 50s picks into a pick in the 30s

Personally I hope they spend 1-2 of those 40s picks on more under 25 Lipinski and Kreuger like out of contract talent so as to balance out the list further…

cause we will cull 4-5 list cloggers in that 22-26 age range at years end

With our already young list there’s no point drafting several kids late in the draft

Yeah it’s hard to know what the compo pick may be if he left. The sands seemed to have significantly shifted since the early days eg. Chip Frawley move.

I’ve probably been guilty of having my rose tinted glasses on thinking a first round compo pick after ours was a fait accompli.

But realistically, after relooking at it, given the baggage he carries, any move may only net us similar to Brad Crouch (4 years @700k = start of second)

Isn’t Moore out of contract this year?

I think he needs to have a big year to command 4x 700k.

Has only played maybe 15 good games of footy since the end of 2018.

And will likely have a quiet start to the season as he gains further match fitness

It’s we’ll known around here that I’m no fan and I’d love to see him go… but I accept the club probably keeps him.

Providing…

- he can stay out of trouble this year… and that’s a big IF

- they haven’t already made a behind the scenes decision to take the compo pick and earmark his salary towards recruiting another player 🤷‍♀️

Personally I’d sell for (as you suggest) pick 20 or thereabouts… he’s not consistent on field and only a matter of time before he fronts court again

Pick 20 I’d definitely be on the side of keeping him.

A pick immediately after our first round pick… I’d pack his bags myself.

We have a 2023 1st round pick we can bring forward if we want to.
Also, I wouldn't discount packaging up a few of those 3rd round picks to climb up the ladder to get a pick in the 20s.
That would be a great draft result.

And I'd be shocked if JDG isn't offered $700k pa.

IF De Goey gets that Offer I would really think of Letting Him Go

The guy is a watchwinner and a bull. There will be teams lining up for him even with his off field issues. Imagine Richmond picking him up??

We could then have 2 Top 5 Picks

IMO it's highly unlikely Degeoy won't be at CFC next year so it's pointless raising his name with any trade scenario....No way will McRae let him go!

Ditto Moore

Even how much of a Dickhead he made himself and the Club Look like?

I wouldn’t be so sure. Depends on how much he wants and how much he is being offered. It if results in a top 5 pick, may be difficult to resist particularly given he will be on his last chance.
