They will be looking upgrade points if a bid comes before 22 so not a silly idea.

Not sure those picks is much of an upgrade though

We might be able to move up if we offer 26 and 43 but it isn't a huge rise

I think i'd almost rather keep it, and use 43. 43 isn't so late that its junk.

Zero Hanger, has an interesting Top 20 draft
And has Cam McKenzie sliding out to us.

People have him going anywhere between 6 and 11. Phillipou probably a bit more likely.
I guess no-one knows who will be the better player in the long run anyway.

Players who are a chance to slide to our 3rd pick.
Ed Allen, 194cm mid/Utility . Lewis Hayes 197cm defender. Burgiel Fwd/Mid Darcy Jones miniature mid . D' Aloia mid.

Let's bring the wog boy Phillipou on board with our first pick and stick him in the vaunted #32 of the great Jason Traianidis.

Cripps back as list manager and RTB and Len taking the coaching. True twilight zone stuff. I'd be fully on board.

Pure fantasising but if that twilight zone makeup actually ended up getting us success it would have to be one of the most compelling stories in the history of
footy. Talk about an odyssey

Rumours of homesickness I think . With the club so unstable atm. I’m v weary of picking non vics atm

TBH I’m sick of this homesickness excuse. Do they want to be professional footy players or not? Sometimes you need to make sacrifices. Soft generation.

Its not like they’re emigrating to another country. There’s a mid year break, And parents, friends can come over any time.

I agree but it’s a reality and to not consider is silly.

Don’t forget if Ross is coach, Riewoldt will mostly likely get involved with the club again, helping out the forwards and Steele with captaincy

What we could/should be doing is making the most of our positioning and playing to our advantage. Our base extends from St Kilda through the expensive Bayside suburbs all the way down to Franga. We should have every ex-Sandy Dragon on our call sheet, be in the ear of any decent ex-Brighton Grammarian and trying to entice any interstate Eastern Ranger, Oakleigh Charger or Dandenong Stingray back home - offering up the chance to live in (and I'm sure you'll read this in the right voice) Brighton and be back at home with family. Use our location to become a destination club and build from there, learn from the success that deleted Geelong and Sydney have been having.

If someone else drafts Mackenzie, he's target #1.

Sounds good in theory, but Brighton is about 12km's from the MCG.

It's very different to Geelong.

It shouldn't stop us from trying to get those players but I'm not sure we have much advantage over any other club.

What is gonna shit me is if Geelong miss Clark. I reckon they take Mackenzie. Imagine the melt

Imagine what it was like for people who immigrated to Australia in the 1960s. It was a long ship ride, with Airlines mainly for the wealthy. Some of them would never see some of their friends and family ever again.
International phonecalls were hideous, it was mostly letters.

Even in the 1990's my wife and i had $300 phone bills because we moved to Perth from Victoria.
Air fares back then would have been a hinderance even to AFL players.

Now they can Zoom or talk or text whenever they want.

I don't know what its like nowdays for armed forces, but the Navy in particular used to be long periods away from home.

AFL players are meant to be tough. Fine go home to mummy, but don't complain if i call you buttercup.

Different times where kids take longer to grow up because their parents keep them in a bubble. No one's to blame it's just a social evolution for better or worse, probably worse. The trick is to draft interstate country kids of you want more old skool mentality.
