Jed Anderson might be interested in joining his sister at the Saints.

I just don't see the reason we'd bring in a 29 year old depth player unless it's a back up ruck.

You want to improve, you need to back kids
I understand that view but our depth is rubbish and if it's even for the sake of keeping the zebs competitive and working with the kids then it's worth a spot on minimum wage.
FWIW I'd be selecting Windy, Chito and Nas, then 19 others from what's left.
JB would be shifted to an inside mid in VFL till he grows a pair or quits.

Build depth through the draft then

Its not as though Sandringham are non competitive

I like this from Phillipou
Mattaes Phillipou: I think I‘d have to say myself, just because I think if you’re not going to back yourself, you probably don’t have the confidence required to play in the league,” he said.

“Whether I think I’m the best right now, I would probably say yes as well. But look at the end of the day, it‘s what clubs need and I might not be the best fit for a club. But if I had Pick 1, I’d definitely be taking myself
🙌 draft him.

Stack is definitely the only Delistee I'd want to have us look at as an immediate pick up, presuming RTB is on his way and could kick metaphorical butt.

Then maybe leave a list spot open and have one or two of blokes like Stocker, Narkle and RCD (along with a state leaguer) put in a preseason and see what they have to offer in terms of effort and cohesion.

I know everyone thinks he's spud but Mitch Wallis just looks like a Ross player. He's meant to be a bit of a leader and he's a blue collar worker with a bit of brilliance at times. He's the type I can imagine Lyon talking on and making him into a solid citizen while the kids develop. If he ended up at Sandy he'd be good for who ever is back there as well.

Yeah I could see Ross bringing in both him and Jed and saying if you kids want a game you train as hard and play your role as committed as these 2.

Top 5 is pretty well locked up you think. The only surprise would maybe see Essendon take Humphrey as a bolter.

I have our recruitment gurus tossing up between Phillipou and Busslinger.

I don't know how well Oscar Adams and Matt Allison are tracking as possible key defenders at 197cm and 195cm respectively?? I mean if these two show us some hope I would lean towards Phillipou over Busslinger.

GWS #1- Cadman

Lions #2- Ashcroft (bid)

Norf #3- Sheezel

Norf #4- Wardlaw

Essendon #5- Tsatas

Suns #6- Humphrey, Vic country kid its the most likely option here and safer bet for the suns with go home factor.

Hawks #7- MacKenzie, Unfortunately I think he gets snapped up by the Hawks. After offloading Tom Mitchell and O'meara they will be looking to bolster midfield talent. MacKenzie is poised, smart and Mr Consistent, qualities Sam Mitchell will really admire.

They took Granger-Barrass #6 2020 and Will Day #13 2019 as Tall defenders. Josh Ward #7 2021 as a mid. Will probably look at tall forward in 2023 draft assuming they will likely finish bottom 6. Matt Jefferson is a reach at #7 so MacKenzie it is.

Cats #8- Clark, local product gets his wish. Hawks probably aware of his desire to play with Geelong too another reason to go for MacKenzie.

West Coast #9- Ginbey, Best at draft combine also to go with his impressive year. Eagles need some grunt. Buttlicker or Hewett an option also but they will get a look at one of the 2 at next pick #13

Saints #10- Phillipou, I think the Sainters will look closely at Mattaes Phillipou. Only a few days shy of being eligible for 2023 draft. 192cm and 82kg he is very agile for his size. Could this be the Patty Cripps, Fyfe, Dangerfield type that falls between pick 10 and 20? Saints crying out for a star, this kid has a lot of potential. Forward option early on before moving into the middle where he looks at home.

Could be one of those picks that haunt us. Bont, Petracca eg.

Concerns over homesickness rumours mentioned??

Or......

Busslinger, a very good tall defender and we really need a quality tall defender, he can kick and find the footy too. Bit of a Lever mould he would slot in beautifully next to Dougal as the 2 key posts freeing up Wilkie and Battle who are undersized against some of the taller Key forwards in the AFL. Buttlicker would really cap off our backline. I like Geelongs big bodied and taller backline setup. So difficult for forwards to contend with just ask Max, Buddy etc.

Other notable options would be Jefferson at 195cm tall forward but he is a skinny kid and goes to ground a lot he's just not near strong enough atm and would be a long term project. I know we need another key pillar to help Max but we have Jack Hayes coming back next year at least. Gallagher could surprise and take Jefferson. Home grown lad also helps his case. I just think Busslinger and Phillipou better options

I’m starting to become all in on Phillipou. Humphrey or CMac next in line and would be happy with them and can absolutely see appeal of Busslinger.

I wish we'd seen more, or got more feedback on Oscar Adams.
Adams is listed at 197 or 198cm and 83kg.
Busslinger is listed at 195 and 81kg.
Lewis Hayes 197cm 81Kg.

If Adams is tracking OK, perhaps we'd be best to wait another year before drafting another developing key back.

Ethan Phillips is 23YO , 196-198cm and 92Kg.
He may not have the future potential of the others, but he's probably more of a sure thing, and assumedly can play AFL level right away.

If the club view Adams as developing well, ie responding to coaching, putting on weight etc, then i'd be pretty unhappy to take on Busslinger or Hayes.
But if they see Adams as a slim chance for success ,i'd like us to get someone else who is a chance of high level talent.

If Phillips was still there for our forth pick i'd be pretty happy to get him, for our 3rd pick i'm not so sure.

We paid how much for Hanners to provide leadership around the club? Agree that Mitch would do this in spades and be able to get on the ground if needed and without the Hanners cost.

I'd be very happy with.

First Draft Pick: Humphrey, Philipou, or Mackenzie.

Second Pick : Hotton, Keeler, George , Konstanty, Hustwaite, or Szybowski
3rd Pick: Ed Allen, Burgiel, D'Aloia , or maybe Jones or Long.
4th Pick. Ethan Phillips.

Then i think we have two Rookie spots.

How the hell are the Saints meant to compete?

We can barely get a father/son prospect at all and yet other clubs have ex-players still firing shots into their 90s and beyond!
