Selwood (who let’s remember has won 4 GFs) noted at the end of the game just how hard it is to win the flag. A lot needs to go right and not much needs to go wrong when 17 other professional teams are all striving for the same thing.

Geelong were just too good today. I think they also proved that their best was better than our best. Don’t think anyone was beating Geelong based on that performance. They were just too good.

Problem is the mental scarring we just incurred.

For 4 of our goals the Cats kicked a responding goal in around 1 minute and 30 seconds real time.

So in less than a minute roughly of game time for 4 of our goals they immediately erased the goal we just kicked.

Wtf.

Could not get control of the game tempo at all.

Dunno if anyone has said it yet, but the Rampe losing speech was just pure class. One of the best I’ve heard from a losing skipper.

Such a good soul Rampe is.

It was so good one has to think whether he had plenty of time to think about what he was going to say..

The sad thing was the team never really gave us the opportunity to barrack for them once the game got going. They can only learn from this, there is no choice other than that.

If we ever take an injured player(s) into a grand final again, I will want a refund on my ticket. There is no point starting the game with a couple of own goals.

We won some key matchups….arguably Clarke on Stewart and Fox on Cameron. Two GFs we have played out of the last 3 where it’s been over very early. I am not fond of Grand Finals anymore, people reckon prelims are the hardest to win, I am not so sure about that anymore.

Also Cyril Rioli went into 14 under an injury cloud. Remember thinking that the Hawks had made a huge mistake and he'd have a stinker but he was one of their best when the game was up for grabs.

While i do think we try and strive to be like Geelong, the comparisons should stop as they are a unique club in a unique position able to consistently bring in quality on the cheap where we would have to pay significantly overs.
