There's a question to ask first about why a contracted Hunter would be shown the door
Hard no to Hunter.
Far too many skeletons in that closet. He’s one of the main reasons Dunkley is leaving for one.
We have a no dickhead policy - if you are going to break it, don’t do it for a role player that isn’t very good

He can definitely play but you'd want to be sure of your due diligence given his last few years.
Genuine question for those that know this stuff. Before committing are clubs allowed to review psychiatric records and submit wannabe trades to a psychiatric examination, in the same way you can look at their knee scans and do a physical exam?

No idea. I suspect they are at least able to examine them if they want to.

In terms of the Private School V Public thing, it was a while ago now but I'm a good example of that.

I played over 100 games of junior footy, was Captain of my club for most of them, F&B twice, combined side centreman etc.
My parents decided to send me to the local high school while all my best friends went private. My Dad died not long after and I ended up getting into drugs and smoking and stopped footy.

I'm not saying that was anyone's fault but I doubt very much, with my record I'd have been allowed to fall between the cracks at a Private school.

I’d also ask about Menegola tBH.

100% i think he would be absolutely perfect on a 1-2 year deal.

I can't imagine he is going to play much regular footy in Geelong going forward.

Prominent player manager Colin Young insists he has no “agenda” with Fremantle and hopes contracted tall Rory Lobb can still get to Western Bulldogs.
Young says Lobb’s potential move to the Bulldogs could be the key to the Dockers getting their main trade target, Melbourne premiership ruck Luke Jackson who wants to play in his home State in 2023.
It will be a busy period for the Corporate Sports Australia agent with Lobb wanting to become a Bulldog, swingman Griffin Logue requesting a trade to North Melbourne, Greater Western Sydney forward Bobby Hill and Adelaide utility Billy Frampton keen to get to Collingwood.
Fremantle have said they will hold Lobb to his contract if Logue gets to North but Young said they had known about Lobb’s desire to leave for almost a year.

“I’ve been trying to work with Fremantle, naturally they’re going to say that because he’s got one year to go but they’ve been fully aware that he was going to ask for a trade from one week after trade period last year,” Young told Trade Radio.

“We know where it sits and we’re just hoping if Jackson goes to Fremantle that there’s an opportunity where Rory can help Fremantle land Jackson by a way of maybe picks that can help him.

“It’s going to be great for Fremantle if they do get Jackson because he’s going to set them up for the next 10 years so we’re just hoping that there’s an opportunity along the way where we can jump on a trade that assists Fremantle.”
Young said coaches Alastair Clarkson and Michael Voss were the big factors behind where Logue and winger Blake Acres, who is managed by colleague Andrew McDougall, choosing where they wanted to play next season.

He was also adamant he had no issues with Fremantle.
“Before all the Fremantle supporters start attacking me, I think I’ve taken 13-15 players into Fremantle so I don’t have any agenda with Fremantle,” Young said.
Young said Logue had spoken with nine rivals clubs including two or three meetings and four Zoom calls, after some “red flags” at Freo mid-season, before settling on the Roos with Clarkson selling him a Josh Gibson-like vision.

The fate of incoming Roos coach Clarkson is now unclear ahead of an investigation into racism allegations from his time as Hawthorn coach.
“We had no thought process at the start of the season as to him being traded,” Young said about Logue.
“About round 10 or 11, Fremantle hadn’t offered a contract from about November to April from memory and then I think he got dropped a couple of times so there were a couple of red flags ... and that started the ball rolling.”
Young said top-10 pick Liam Henry, who has a contract for next year, would stay at Freo.
“He will be unless something pops up that I don’t know about in the next 10 days,” Young said.

Pretty bad look for Logue to see red flags and look elswhere. Hate signing players to mid season contracts

Hunter is the “sort” we can use to fill the gaps from Acres etc…

28 in December, 3 year deal, already has an AFL tank, neat disposal…could be useful
I don't think he is defensive enough for our team, good skills yes but not sure he stands up when the shots are firing..

I find it hilarious that they're complaining he hadn't got a contract offer from Nov-Apr during which he played zero good games of football.
Old ground now but it was a massive **** up by Fremantle not to offer a deal to Logue this time last year. WTF were they thinking? They contracted Ethan bloody Hughes for 3 years so I don’t buy for one second that Logue couldnt have been offered a deal.
At NO POINT was Hughes ever projecting to be a longer term player than Logue at Freo.
Now we are left with a mature body KPP out the door for a useless future 2nd round pick.

Hughes finished top 5 in our b&f which triggered the contract. Logue will finish out of our top 10 in the doig, and wasn't looking likely best 22 in that time.

Acres played half a season of good footy after two full years of absolute crap. The only way it makes sense to do three years is make it performance based.

Menegola was injured all year , they would be almost identical coin and value Menegola older but a bit more proven and Acres there is a bit of upside still as he seems to have worked his game out and is a couple of years younger

Why upset the apple cart only to flip it back over after half the apples have rolled away

That’s not true. Hughes never finished top 5 in the doig, ever, and last year he wasn’t even top 10. In fact, he barely played at all last season. I think he signed a 3 year extension halfway through last season and was dropped to the wafl the following week where he has been almost ever since apart from 2 games this year.
